It was a cold and rainy night as I walked through the city; for some reason walking in the rain was always so calming to me. I loved looking at the scenery around me while feeling the cold water droplets fall onto my face. I always knew I belonged to the city; growing up in a small town where everybody knew eachother sucked. I waved hello to another stranger as I passed them on the sidewalk before putting my hands in my pockets to warm them up. I had just gotten done with my shift at the Cafe around five o' clock; now I am on my way back to my apartment building
On my way home, I stopped on the overpass as I watched the cars below pass by. The city traffic always amazed me, it was so much louder than the town I grew up in, but somehow it was calming. I put my earbuds in and clicked shuffle on my playlist. I had the intense feeling that somebody was watching me. That is one bad thing about the city: there are good people and there are bad people in the world, and the city has great amounts of both. I looked around and checked my surroundings before continuing my walk.
About fifteen minutes later I made it back to my apartment. I turned the key in the door and went inside. I grabbed a snack and went out to sit on my balcony. I was scrolling through Instagram when I heard the door to my balcony open. Just as I turned around I saw someone and my life flashed before my eyes...or should I say, my life was cut short.
