Chapter 3

My brother walks into my room just as I'm about to reply to my secret admirer. I turn my phone off and look at my brother.
"Who are you texting?" He asks like he has the right to know.
"Wouldn't you like to know" I mumble. "Did you want something?" I ask before he has a chance to reply to my previous comment.
"You still want to grab lunch? It's nearly noon." My brother says. I put my phone into my pocket and stand up.
"Yeah sure lets go." I say and head for my bedroom door.

The car ride was rather awkward as neither of us talked. After about 5 minutes of awkward silence I remember that I still haven't replied to my secret admirer.

Could you please tell me something to put as your contact name?

I put my phone on my lap and wait for a reply. My brother gives me a curious glance because he knows I don't have many friends to text. I just ignore him and wait for a reply.

Well I have a few ideas. You could call me daddy ;) I'm joking you can put my name as Bear if you want xxxx

As I read his message I can't help but turn red and let out a nervous cough.
"Um Phil? You okay?" my brother asks. Damn he better not try to see who I'm texting.
"Yeah I'm alright. Are we almost at the restaurant?" I ask trying to change he subject.
"Yeah it's only a few more minutes away " he says. We sit awkwardly for a moment before I take my phone back out and change my admirers name to "Bear".

Woah someone's getting confident. Where did the name Bear come from though?

To: Phil
From: Bear

It's just a nickname of mine. My family called me that when I was younger but no ones does now. Well except you of course xxx

To: Bear
From: Phil

Well I'm honored to get to call you that then :) I have to go now bye!

To: Phil
From: Bear

Bye love xxx

I put my phone away as we pull up to the restaurant. McDonalds, how classy. My brother and I walk into McDonalds and order our food. We take a seat by the window and start to eat in awkward silence.
"So how's school going?" My brother asks, breaking the silence.
"It's fine. Same as always." I reply. My brother nods and takes a bit of his food.
"Any new friends? I saw you were texting someone in the car. Or is that your gir- er boyfriend?" My brother asks. I'm slightly pissed he almost said girlfriend. Its been nearly 3 year since I came out, he should be used to it by now.
"No I don't have a boyfriend. It was just a friend." I reply, making sure to emphasize the word boy.
"And to be clear I don't have a girlfriend either" I say, just to get the point across. He nods and continues eating. There's no words exchanged for a few minutes before I decide it's my turn to break to silence.
"So how's school for you? Got a boy- I mean girlfriend?" I say mostly just so he can see how annoying it is when he messes up my sexuality. I know he didn't mean to but still. He sighs at the word boy but quickly seems to realize he probably deserves it.
"Schools fine. And I'm currently seeing this girl named Jessica, but her friend Becky is pretty hot so I'm not sure how long the relationship will last." My brother says. He is such a player, it's kinda sick to be honest. Back in high school he dated the same girl for three years, only to find out she's been cheating on him. Now he just dates random hot girls for sex and moves onto the next girl after a few weeks.
"Hm sounds about right" I say. By this point we have both finished our lunches so we stand up and throw the wrappers away. As walk out of the restaurant I pass a few kids from my school who are walking in. One of them stops and smiles at me before quickly walking away. She seemed nice. (A/N did anyone think it was Dan for a second? No? Okay.)

That night I was left home alone. My brother went out with some of his friends from high school and my parents are who knows where. I decided to text who I now know as bear.

Hey :)

I got a reply almost immediately which was pretty cute to be honest.

Hey my little lion :) How have you been today? xxx

To: Bear
From: Phil

You little lion? That's adorable. My brother and I went out to lunch which was quite awkward but over all I've had a good day.

To: Phil
From: Bear

Would you ever consider going out to lunch with me? Hopefully it won't be awkward :3 xxx

Did he just ask me on a date? Like a serious date? If he did then I would get to see who he his. Even if the date goes horrible at least I would know who he was.

Would that make you happy? I just meant like eventually after you knew who I was and stuff...

Oh. Well I would probably say yes if you were to ask me...

Hehe I didn't know it was even possible to be so cute through a text message. I start to feel extremely tired and glance at the clock. 1:00am already? I put my phone away and go to sleep.
