the flight landed and the three friends were now in a uber on the way to brooklyn's home to go see her brother before going to visit her dad in the hospital.

brooklyn thanked the driver after getting out the car with tom and emma with all of their suitcases.
brooklyn ran to the front door, barging inside as it was unlocked and threw all of her bags on the floor at the main entrance before running into the living room where jacob was.
as soon as she saw her little brother she couldn't help but to give him the biggest hug she's probably ever given him.
the siblings rocked back and forth in the hug as tom and emma walked in the house, watching them and standing their quite awkwardly.
brooklyn couldn't help but begin to ball her eyes out as she hugged jacob, it was her baby brother after all.
"so, what do you guys wanna do?" brooklyn asked as she stood in the kitchen looking through the refrigerator while tom, emma, and jacob all sat at the kitchen island. everyone knew what they needed to be doing, finding bills to pay, or anything they could to help out with brooklyn and jacob's dad being in the hospital and not looking so good, but brooklyn couldn't bare to even think about doing anything like that at the moment, she wanted nothing more than to spend time with her little brother.
"wanna go to the hospital?" jacob asked as brooklyn sighed, "i guess so." she shrugged before getting her coat and heading out the front door with everyone.
brooklyn snatched the keys from jacob as she climbed in her dads truck, jacob took the passenger as tom and emma took the backseat. brooklyn started the truck and backed out of the driveway, and drove off to the hospital.
"hi, we're here to see troy beckett." brooklyn told the nurse as she began typing on her computer, "ah yes, how are you related to the patient?"
"i'm his daughter, and that's his son." she told the lady, pointing at jacob.
"and the other two?"
"uhm, they're my cousins." brooklyn lied but the lady believed it. she was a pretty great actress after all.
"room 32C" she smiled as the four nodded and began walking to that room.
"god i hate the smell of hospitals." brooklyn spoke as tom wrapped his arm around her. soon after, they all made it to the door. jacob took a deep breath before opening the door quietly with the others following in behind him.
brooklyn's eyes scanned her father's nearly lifeless body laying in the hospital bed, he was hooked up to machines that were the only thing keeping him here on this earth.
after taking everything in for a few moments, brooklyn knew it was for the best but still couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth, "jacob he looks miserable, who's in charge of the medical decisions?"
jacob's eyes went wide as he knew exactly what she was getting to, "brooklyn no."
the blonde girls eyes filled with tears, "jacob we can't keep him here if he's miserable and unhappy."
jacob's heart sunk and broke as his older sister said that, she may had been right but jacob couldn't handle that right now. all the two siblings ever had was their father, now the thought of him actually being gone broke him.
jacob zoned everyone out as his back hit the wall and his legs nearly gave out as he slid back on it, now sitting on the cold hospital floor.
emma sat down on the floor next to jacob, wrapping her arms around him as he needed comfort, though she didn't know jacob fairly well, she wasn't gonna just sit there and not at least try to comfort him.
brooklyn scanned her fathers body one more time before turning back to the door and heading out of it as tom followed her.
the two went to go sit in the truck, and as soon as the truck door shut and brooklyn took a breath, the tears came flooding.
