11. Quentin Turnbull

Start from the beginning

I shot four and threw my knife in the fifth. Where are number six and seven? My question is answered, when I feel a hand on my mouth. Two other hands hold my arms in place. There they are.

"She's mine." One of them says.

"No she's mine." The other one says.

Then a whole argument starts about 'who's' I am. I'm getting sick of this. "If you're gonna rape me, then get it over with."

But I don't get a reply. Instead, their grip on me loosens, until they aren't holding me at all. I turn around in confusion. The woman I 'saved' is standing there with two knives that are covered in blood. The guys are lying death on the floor.

I smile. "Impressive."

She looks shocked. "Oh god, I killed them."

"How about you give these to me." I say, taking the knives from her. I also hold up my hand to get my knife from out of the one with the blue scarf.

"And now what?" She asks, still shaken up.

"Now we get out of here." I reply, taking her hand and running away with her.

"There's my house!" She shouts, dragging me inside.

Her house is small. It's actually totally how you'd expect the houses here to look. "Would you like something to drink?" She asks.

"No thanks." I reply.

I sit down at the table. "What's your name?" I ask her.

"Abigail."

"Kate Rory."

"I've never seen you here before." She says.

"I'm not from around here."

"I can tell."

"It's that obvious?"

She sits down next to me. "Well, there aren't any women that can shoot a gun here."

"That's too bad. With all these gangs..."

At the mention of gangs, she shifts a little. It's like she gets scared.

"What did I say?" I ask.

"These gangs... My husband is-" she cuts herself off and looks down.

"Who's your husband?" I ask.

"Quentin Turnbull." She replies. My eyes widen. "I know. You can leave if you want to." She mumbles

This is actually a great oppertunity to get information from her, so I obviously don't leave. "Your husband, does he live here?"

"No, he has a camp a few miles from here. He basically left me."

I want to ask where the camp is, but that would make me suspicious. "I'm sorry."

She sadly nods. "Do you have a place to stay for tonight?" She then asks.

"No." I lie.

"Well, then you can stay here. The guest bedroom is free. I'll show it to you."

She shows me around in the house, ending with the guest bedroom. "Is there anything else you need?"

I shake my head 'no', but then another question pops up in my head. "Wait, if you're Turnbull's wife, then why were his guys trying to-"

"They don't know. Quentin doesn't like to tell people he's married."

"Are you okay?"

She nods. "Yeah, yeah, I'm downstares if you need me."
