to my surprise, i was greeting by an empty room.
of course i had been early, i had to be prepared; but i thought everyone would show up at least 15 minutes before they were supposed to.
i walked toward the individual offices until i reached the one that read

'Aaron Hotchner'

i gave three knocks.

three.

because three is the perfect number.

"Yes?"

a stern voice responding to my knocking.
clearly it was the one and only Aaron Hotchner, my new boss.
i turned the door knob and slowly pushed the door open.

"Hello, Sir. Charlotte Vivienne,
I was told I was going to be joining the unit."

I told to Hotchner

"Oh yes, of course. Wee have a case today, it's perfectly fine if you want to sit this one out. If not, you can put your belongings on an empty desk in the bullpen , the team should be here any moment. After you're settled you can head into the room with the round table."

he said, handing me my gun and badge.
I walked out and closed the door behind me.
it smelled like pure black coffee.
i settled on a dark desk, giving a both gloomy and light aesthetic.
after that, i grabbed a cup of coffee and made my way to the round table, it was in one of the rooms on the slightly elevated part of the main room.
i checked my watch, it was almost time for the rest of the team to join me and Agent Hotchner at the round table.
Quickly, I walked to his office again.

"Sir, Where's the restroom?"

i asked

he replied with the directions and i speed walked towards the ladies room.

i looked into the mirror and fixed the collar of my white button down shirt, whispering re-assuring to myself.

i must've taken forever, since when i exited the bathroom the main room was still empty, except for a few files and bags on the desks.
checking my watch, i was filled with immediate relief as I realized i had perfect timing.

i made my way back up towards the round table, and stepped inside of the smaller room.

Agent Hotchner spoke to the agents sitting at the table;

"Just in time, everyone this is Doctor Charlotte Vivienne, she's a new member of the team."

i gave a quick smirk, attempting to make myself feel welcome, though i felt a bit out of place.

"You don't have to use the 'Doctor' part."

i responded, just loud enough for them to hear me

though i liked a professional environment, there was already a 'Doctor' on the team, and i don't want to stand out.

Mr. Hotchner began introducing me to the team members, but i already knew who they were.

Derek Morgan was the man with the umber-toned skin. Emily Prentiss was the woman with shoulder length black hair, and soft eyes. David Rossi was the older man, with a few gray hairs poking at his hairline. Spencer Reid was the younger man with messy brown hair. Jennifer Jareau was the girl with long blonde hair. Penelope Garcia was the peppy technical analyst; and Aaron Hotchner was my new boss.

I turned over to Jennifer as Hotchner said her name

"You can call me J.J"

she said as she put her hand out in attempts to shake mine.

"Oh, i don't really shake hands, thank you for being polite though J.J"

She gave me a 'No worries' look before pulling her hand away
Derek Morgan gave a few of the other team members a mischievous grin, which really confused me but i wasn't going to ask questions.
My boss continued to introduce the rest of the team, which i payed no attention to, until he told me that i could take a seat.
the only available seat was in-between  Doctor Spencer Reid and Emily Prentiss, which i had no problem with.
i sat down and fixed my posture as Penelope Garcia began to explain the details of the case.

"Congrats folks, today you will be heading to sunny Los Angeles, California!... to investigate the murders of 17 year olds Amber James, Kaitlyn Davis, and Max Alvarez. All 3 of these poor teen girls were found nailed to the side of a garbage can with a diary entry in their mouths.."

she winced

three victims

i gently tapped my foot against the floor three times, before tapping a rhythm on my right hand with my fingers.
that rhythm was the three opening piano notes to the song my mother used to sing to me.
i didn't do it on purpose, it was more of an impulse at this point. muscle memory.
i noticed Doctor Reid looking at me once i began tapping my foot,
but i didn't mind. i just returned to finishing up my notes while the rest of the team had a short discussion.

"Wheels up in 30." a stern voice called
