Melanie pov:

"come along Melanie we're meeting the lawthers today." my mother spoke softly so only I could hear. I sighed. "why can't I find love myself? I don't even know this man, why should I be forced to marry him?" I complain. my mother sighed and tuck a hair behind my ear. "they're simply rich, and we need money. so, no questions asked melanie, let's go." my mother says. I groan and follow her out the door.

we hop into a carriage and make our way to the practice ceremony. we stepped out and walked inside the front foye. I didn't want to deal with socializing amongst the new family I was being forced into, so I went on a walk to the garden our back.

they flowers looked so graceful in the sunlight. I kept walking as my thoughts overtook my head. what if the man is scary? or mean....? what if he- "I'm sorry to bother miss but do you happen to know where the front foye is located?" a man interrupted me. I lifted my head and was meant with the most beautiful eyes and handsome man.

I was at a lost for words....

"u- um yea it's down there to your right." I smile giving the directions. "thank you so much." he exclaimed, he picked up my hand and softly kissed the top. I blushed a slight rose. he nodded and walked past.

I never got his name.

30 mins later:

3rd person pov:

"do you have any idea where Melanie wondered off to?" her mother asked her father. Melanies father looked around scanning the atmosphere around them. "no, where is she?" he responded softly. "how lovely to meet you." the mother of the lawthers spoke. melanies parents both smiled at the couple and their young man. "this fine young man must be Alex." father spoke. "yes indeed." mr.lawthers spoke. "pleasure to meet you." Alex spoke a with a nod. "oh polite too, raised well." melanies mother spoke.

mrs.lawthers grinned. "where is the bride of the evening?" mr.lawther asked calmly.
Melanie was still out about in the garden area. mother gulped, "I'll go grab her." she spoke and quickly ran off at a search for her daughter. the lawthers stood there unaware of what to say.

"melanie!!!" a loud voice spoke making Melanie jump from the noise. she rushed around the corner. "yes mother?" she asked, "there you are!" her mother gripped her and tightly and dragged her away, "ow." Melanie spoke under her breath.

"terribly sorry we're late." melanies mother spoke to the pastor. "you must never be late again." he spoke. Melanie's mother finally let go of her grip and she rubbed her arm hoping for the redness to leave, she hadn't looked up until he bumped into the desk between the bride and spouse. "oohp-" she said softly and looked up to be met with those same gorgeous eyes.

Alex too was surprised he was about the marry such a beautiful woman. "oh I-"Alex started but the pastor interrupted. that evening Alex and Melanie spent rehearsing their vows and practice the dances, all getting ready for the wedding tomorrow.

~the next day~

the whole morning melanie was pushed around and had no time to herself. she couldn't even prepare herself for her own wedding. Alex sighed, he was definitely not ready to marry someone, but he did indeed start to fancy Melanie. both Melanie and Alex hated their parents, wanted nothing to do with them.

the music started and it was time for Melanie to walk down the isle with her father. "I'm so nervous." She spoke, "deal with it." her father spoke with annoyance. they walked down and Melanie put on her fakest smile the whole way. Alex couldn't keep his eyes off of her, the dress looked gorgeous on her frame.

"do you Alex, take Melanie to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the pastor asked, "I do." Alex smiled, "and do you Melanie, take Alex to be your lawfully wedded husband?" the pastor turned to her, "I do." she spoke and they slid the rings on, they fit perfectly. "you may kiss the bride." the pastor spoke. Melanie gave Alex a reassuring look and their lips met as everyone cheered.

Alex wrapped his arms around her waist and wrapped her arms around his neck. they kissed perfectly and they pulled apart, "wow." Alex spoke, "what?" she whispered, "nothing." he said and pulled her in by the waist and walked back down the aisle.

the dinner party was about to begin. Melanie went to walk by was grabbed quickly and shoved in a closet, she went to scream but a familiar hand stopped her, "Alex?" she exclaimed in a quiet voice, "run away with me." she spoke. "imsorrywhat?" Melanie spoke at once, "I'm madly in love with you right now, and I don't want to be surrounded by our family anymore. Let's run away, live in the country, raise kids, live a happy life." He explained.

Melanie smiled, "maybe getting married wasn't so bad after all." she spoke, "doll is that a yes?" he questions, "mhm" she responded and Alex embraced her in a another kiss making her chuckle.

and that's what they did, they ran away and never was caught. now they live in a cottage along the lake...living happily together.
