The Last One

The first meeting ~ Part One

~ Narrator ~

Two years ago, mankind collapsed. Why you may ask. For many years scientist conducted experiments on humans but one day something went wrong and from the laboratories escaped a deadly virus that not only killed millions of people but also turned them into mindless beats. Zombies, that's what they called them. When you got bitten you turned into one of them. You always had to be on your guard or you died. Sounds simple, doesn't it? People have become ruthless. They didn't care who you are, what mattered to them was surviving what they called life. But not everyone was like this, some of people who survived still had a good heart. It was very rare to meet one that doesn't care only about himself.

~ P.O.V (y/n) ~

I jump up from my bed and sigh. Another nightmare I hate them. Since two years I can't have even one night without them. I stand up and look around me with still half closed eyes. Sometimes I forget where I am and what happened. I forget many things, like what do you feel when you hug  someone or talk to people. I shake my head. I should go it isn't save here. I take my Rucksack and look behind me one last time. I hear my belly rumble. I didn't even realise I haven't eaten in days. I have to find some food. I open the door and the air hits me. It isn't very fresh but I don't complain. I look if someone is near me. I'm lucky no one is out here. I start walking the now destroyed streets of London. It's quite warm today, maybe because it's may. I take off my jacket and bind it on my hips. It's weird I didn't meet even one zombie today. Something is wrong.

Hours pass, after a while I found food and sat down for a moment to rest and eat. This day has been awful peaceful. I like it. Normally I run away from others or fight with zombies. I was lucky 'cause I found a katana at the beginning of the apocalypse. I have a lot of weapons with me. I always carry them, you know it safer that way. I am really glad that I had fighting lessons before it all started. It really helped me. I was still in my thoughts when I heard a scream. I knew it wouldn't be peaceful all day. I roll my eyes and jump up. I run to the spot where I heard the scream.

I look at the ground and see a guy. He's bleeding and zombies begin to go towards him. He needs help. I take out my katana and run towards the zombies. I cut their heads through and stab them until they all dead. The guy glares at me with wide open eyes. I take a look at him, he has brown eyes you could melt in and brown curly hair. I give him a small smile and help him get up. I look down at his T-Shirt. He's bleeding very badly. I take his hand and put it around my shoulder to help him walk. I take him to the closest building and lay him down. I take my Rucksack and take out some bandages and painkillers. I give him the pills and roll up his shirt. "I'm sorry but I don't have any water you have to swallow them without it." I say while I  gently take care of his wound. "Thank you." He whispers.

"Okay, I'm done. The painkillers should start working soon." I says while putting the stuff into my rucksack again. "Why are you doing this?" He looks at my hands following their every movement with his eyes. I don't reply. "Stay here I'm going to find some food and water." I stand up ready to walk out. "Wait! Tell me at least your name." He says. "My name is (y/n)." I reply with a little smile on my lips. "I'm Tom." Be smiles back at me before I open the door and step outside.
