An Interesting Start

Cameron Williams lives an interesting life. She has two best friends, a brother who she actually gets along with great, two very intolerant and ignorant parents, and a minor crush on the hottest gay girl at her school.

"Cammie... Cammie. Wake up loser." Blake says quietly as Cameron slowly awakens from her restful sleep. She had slept better than usual, she only had one rude awakening but that was from Blake "sneaking" downstairs very loudly at 3 am. Cameron looks over to her alarm and sees that it is 7:30am and Blake was driving her to school in 20 minutes. "You sleep okay?"

"Oh yeah, thanks for checking on me though I guess I slept through my alarm."

"No problem sister, just be ready in 20 minutes." Blake smiles as he leaves her room, closing the door behind him. Cameron quickly gets out of bed and throws jeans, a t-shirt, and a flannel, and of course she cuffs the jeans. Before leaving her room to head to the kitchen she grabs her phone to see a text from Rae and Finn, well more specifically their group chat.

7:14 am Rae : you people wanna come over tonight for a few hours? my sister is having friends over and i don't really wanna be alone with them

7:17 am Finn : yeah sure, i can idk if cam can tho. i think she had a work thing

7:18 am Rae : k just let me know. bet she won't see this till later cause she's definitely still sleeping

7:19 am Finn : yupp :)

7:43 am Cam : oh how little confidence you all have in me. but yeah i have to be at work till 7 but i can come over after that.

7:43 am Rae : bet see you in 2nd block

Cameron puts her phone in her pocket and goes out to see Blake currently attempting to make bacon.

"Bro we have to go in 6 minutes and you're trying to make bacon? You're not gonna have enough time to finish."

"It's not for you silly, it's for me when I get back." Blake smirks. "You ready to go?"

Cameron gives a small nod and they head outside to get in her brother's honda civic sedan. It was gift from our parents when Blake had turned 17, of course that was before they found out he was supporting his girlfriend at the time in getting an abortion. Ever since then they just see him as a disappointment. The pair of siblings gets in the car and starts driving to Cameron's school. Blake had started driving Cameron to school ever since her and her parents got in this huge fight over the summer.

Basically, Cameron let slip a little too much gayness when she said that she thought that lgbtq+ people were cool and there was nothing weird about them. She didn't even mean to say it, but it slipped out. Her mom was furious and ever since then it's been weird between them. If only she found out that not only was Cameron an ally but she was also bisexual.

She was able to find a good group her first year though, Rae and Finn are really supportive. Rae is an ally, and Finn is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Some people at her school are still pretty ignorant, but a lot less than her old school so she feels more comfortable.

Blake and Cameron make small talk and joke around on the way to school, when they arrive Blake pulls around to the student lot and lets Cameron get out so she can head in. As Cameron is getting out and starts to walk away Blake stops her.

"Hey! You're hanging out at the Simons' house tonight right?"

"Yeah I'm going over for a few hours, why?"

"Oh uh no reason. Just wondering if you want a ride?"

"Actually Finn was gonna drive me, but thanks for the offer."
