Chapter One

There once was a little girl who lived in a castle. Anything she could ever want would magically appear before her eyes. Her parents were the strong and powerful, yet loving, King and Queen that everyone adored. The princess grew up being told that no matter who you are or what you believe in, every one gets their very own happily ever after. But this happens to be my story and I am no pretty little princess.

My name is Emma Taylor and no way in HELL is that my story.

I grew up with a pretty average life. I went to school in my hometown right outside the city where I eventually graduated from high school. I hung out with my friends, had a few boyfriends, partied till I blacked out, you know the usual teenage life.

Living the life the way I wanted was easy especially since my parents were never around. They were always either working all hours of the day or on a couples vacation with their rich snotty friends.

I wouldn't say I was queen bee of the school but I was still pretty popular. People seemed to like me for my looks rather than my personality, not that I'm complaining. I'm the typical tall, blonde, blue eyed girl that everyone wants to look at but doesn't actually want. My appearance is what draws people in until they actually talk to me.

Claire says if I want to make friends then I have to smile more. But I am perfectly fine with her being, well pretty much my only close friend. We have been attached at the hip since she moved to my town in middle school and there is nobody else I would want to take on the world with.

Like me, Claire is the same height as me at 5'7 and we are both fair skin. The difference between us is that I'm blonde with sky blue eyes and she is a flaming red head with deep green eyes almost like emeralds. I have always been jealous because she is so gorgeous and unique while I'm just your typical blonde.

We both turned 18 our senior year of high school. The day after graduation I packed up everything I owned and moved out of my house. Took my parents a good year before they realized I no longer lived there.

Six years later, we are now 24 living together in an apartment in the city that never sleeps. I never knew just how real that statement was until we both started working as bartenders at a club that opened up four years ago.

Lavish is a luxurious club that doesn't just let anybody in. You have to be someone big if you want to party there. Now I don't mean anybody famous or super well known, but the bouncers at the door know who you are even if you think they don't.

Working behind the bar you see a lot of different people every single night. There's the drunk businessmen coming straight from work and the newly legal kids from rich families in the city. There's the crazy party people who know how to get the club riled up and the ones that just follow the crowd. But the ones that have always intrigued me the most are the ones in the VIP section. They are the ones who know they are above everyone else. They only ever party together and make it known that nobody else is welcomed.

Claire and I have worked at Lavish for four years now but we like work downstairs in the main floor because that's where the most action is. Sure the VIP bartenders make the most in tips but we still make a good thousand bucks a night and we get party a little with the crowd.

Our boss Henry has been here since the club first opened. He was actually the one that gave Claire and I a chance and hired us even though we had no experience whatsoever. Henry is 41 but still parties like he's in his 20's so he makes working here even better. Yes he's a fun crazy old man but he knows what he is doing.

Nobody knows who the owner is and nobody has ever met him besides Henry. I guess he's nobody important or else he would show his face once in a while to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Anywho, time to get back to work.
