Eloise Foster

I've always been a solitary creature.

I'll never jump at the occasion to go to a party or to hangout with friends, if I had any.

Maybe that's due to the fact that people have never been kind to me, not even my own family. I'm always marked as different, the odd one out. There's no reason behind this. Maybe it's because people need to point out flaws in something, and they're sure as hell not going to look at themselves.

Why my family treated me like scum, for that I had no answer. Sure, before this whole witch business, they treated me fine. I was still different, the odd ball, but at least they treated me like a human. They forever looked on me with those judgemental eyes and sharp tongues.

"Oh yeah, that's Eloise. She doesn't really do anything, she's kind of just there. We don't know a damn about her but why should we try to learn?"

But the instant I got that letter from that damn school, everything took a turn for the worst.

I became disgusting and irrelevant in my family's eyes. My ideas and opinions were squashed under their prejudices, my happiness right along with them.

My parents believe that I'm unnatural, a monster. They think I either need to be controlled or sent away. By controlled, they mean trying to stunt the 'heathen' magic that runs through my veins. They've tried everything. Isolation, pills, and any more horrible things you can think of.

They finally settled on the sending away idea. If they can't control their daughter, might as well send her away where no one can point fingers back to them.

So I went to the French school, Beauxbatons, as they continued to live their lives. It was lonely at first, although I eventually grew accustomed to the solidarity. But I couldn't stay there.

Beauxbatons was hell. Sure, from the outside it looks like the perfect school. It's housed in something that strongly resembles the Palace of Versailles. The students wear perfect crystal blue uniforms, the girls wear a blue dress with a small overcoat, paired with a slightly pointed hat. The boys wear blue pants and a blue vest and tie, paired with a long overcoat. Everything seems to be heavenly.

But you're missing one thing. Yeah, Beauxbatons appearance is probably one of the best, but it's in the people category where we lose ranking.

The instant I arrived, I was singled out. I was the only British student in my year, and people always pointed out my 'funny accent'. The girls honed in on me for being different, attacking me with their words like knives every time I decided to show my face. This one girl, Amélie Bernard, was at the top of the pack. She was the most popular girl in our year, making her the ringleader of it all. The instant she decided I was rancid meat, everyone quickly followed.

After four hellacious years of this, I couldn't handle it anymore.

It was a few days before the end of term when my dear friend Amélie Bernard decided to pay me a visit. She had cornered me in the hallways with her two little cronies, Layla and Emile. They were berating me, calling me names and getting in my face. I suddenly had the urge to punch her clean across the face, wipe that perfect smile off of her lips, but then I thought better of it.

Punching someone at Beauxbatons would get you expelled, which wasn't an idea I was opposed to at the time, but it also went on your permanent record that you 'gravely assaulted someone.'

So, I decided to take a softer approach. A hex would have the same effect when it came to being expelled, but different when it came to the record.
