Before Foot Recruit was revealed to be Casey Jones, I had my own theory. Casey was a male vigilante like his previous incarnations. However, he was also April's childhood best friend, whom she met in preschool. The two developed a strong friendship, but they lost contact when Casey's father transferred and the family had to move.
Years later, he came back into April's life as a teenager, where he moved back and attend the same school as her. While overjoyed to see him again, she is forced to keep her relationship with the turtles a secret from him. Eventually, she has to tell him after a run-in with one of their villains.
However, instead of freaking out, he thought the turtles were cool and immediately befriended them.
Anyway, I had decided to write a fanfic of my theory of Casey and what might had been.
