There was no missing the pain once all of the painkillers wore off and Annabelle winced as she tried to make herself comfortable while taking in the room around her. Similar to the one at Christopher, everything looked expensive. She was settled into a very large and comfortable four-poster which surrounded with a side table on either side and a very large dresser that sat across the foot of the bed. She could see medical equipment all around her which explained the hospital smell that made her wrinkle her nose every time. On her left, the entire wall was taken up by a wide window with the coziest looking window seat. The door all of the men had entered was right by the window on the wall that was across her bed, and she assumed that meant that the door to the right must lead to a closet and restroom. A very comfortable sitting area was on her right between the bed and the mystery door, including couches and a TV.

Xavier had been the first to excuse himself, once reassured that she was awake and in good hands, he let her know that he had things to take care of out of town. Despite her reassurance, he let her know he will rush the trip and return within a week to check in on her and that she could reach out at any point.

Xavier's departure reminded her of her work which led to her turning to Christopher who after settling her back in bed, sat on a seat by the side of her bed which he must have dragged from the sitting area,

"I don't recall you taking this much time away from the office the entire time I was there,"

Christopher looked up from his phone with a smile,

"Benefits of being the boss" he reassured as he examined her closely again no doubt wondering about her level of pain,

"I'm not there to help, Who is handling everything while you are away?" She asked starting to get concerned.

Christopher put his phone away in his pocket as he leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees,

"It's all being handled I'm sure." He reassured,

She winced again as she tried to sit up a little,

"Mr. Wringer, I don't want to cause any further issues-"

Christopher was by her side, moving in very close, as he helped her sit up and get more comfortable,

"Christopher, or better yet, Chris. You shouldn't be calling me Mr. Wringer unless you're into that, but Darling, you're in no condition for those activities with your injuries, much to my disappointment," he whispered into her ear before moving back with a grin that had to be illegal.

She was shocked for a few minutes, shifting uneasily, not knowing how to react. Narrowing her eyes she finally came back at him,

"You wish"

To which his smile only grew, and she could have sworn his eyes darkened two shades

"I most definitely do" making her lose her composure as she stuttered looking for a response, and fail miserably only to look away from him to compose herself. Clearing her throat slightly, she opted to change the direction of the conversation and hopefully get him out of the room,

"You should go take care of things, I'll be completely fine. I'm sure you have things piling up and I would hate to be the reason to get your projects off track."

Christopher shook his head,

"It will be fine, I'm sure I can handle it when I go back. You're my wife, my responsibility, I need to be here"

"By contract, and you have an empire to run, so definitely not your only responsibility" she reminded him gently clarifying

"My wife nonetheless"

Realizing he wouldn't change his mind she tried another direction,

"You also have to get your things since you're staying here while I recover. Take a trip to get things sorted and grab some stuff-"

She broke off seeing that teasing smile back on his face,

"Christopher" she hissed, not knowing how else to respond

"All right, all right. One condition, it's Chris to you from now on. Start calling me Chris and I'll get out of your hair for a bit and take care of things"

Rolling her eyes she sighed,

"Ok, now go!" She saw the hesitation in his face still,

"I'll be perfectly fine and right here. Can't really go anywhere right now can I?" She reassured him.

Sighing, he finally got up pulling her phone out of one of his pockets and handing it to her. Motioning with his own,

"Call me if you need anything! Vitelli won't let any of my men in here, but I've got enough nearby that we can get you out within 15 minutes. I'm working on narrowing that to 5 but still."

"I'll be fine!" She reassured him again, although surprised that he had already been setting an out up for her.

Nodding, he finally headed to the door, turning back right as he reached the door,

"If you wanted me in your room, you only had to ask, love, I assure you, I would have more than happily shared a room at our place"

He was out of the room in a flash before she could throw anything at him, leaving her flustered for possibly the first time in her life.
