Goodbye, farewell, so long,

From the last Schnozzlekromper on earth.

Brothers and sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, went up to the heavens on the seventh day of the seventh night.

Poor old grandma,

snatched from her little hole in the ground in the dead of night.

Poor old grandpa,

met the same fate the following night.

My mother, bless her soul, blind since long ago,

Lost her way in town and drowned.

My father, though not the best, was still among us for the rest,

Then one day in one fell swoop,

He was snatched up by the great Schnozzlekroop.

The natural predator of my kind if you had not guessed.

Luckily said Schnozlekroop was the last of its kind on earth too,

And so goodbye, farewell, so long,

Haha! to you Schnozzlekroop.

Back on track once again,

Yet there are no others,

No brother or sisters or cousins or aunts or uncles,

No mother,

No father,

Not even a single Schnozzlekroop...

Simply myself, the sky and the far distant stars,

Twinkling merrily in the night sky.

I may be alone,

But with the stars shining bright and the moon so whole and beautiful,

How can I not help but have hope?
