It felt like I just had closed my eyes when I felt Ashlee shaking me. “Ari, I am leaving girl. I love you call me later.” She said. “Okay. Look up when you leave, I love you too.” I said in a sleepy haze. I cracked my eye opened and looked at my phone and saw it was 6:30 in the morning. It like after I seen the time I got sleepier. I rolled over and snuggled deeper down under my covers and slept for what felt like hours. When I opened my eyes, I instantly cringed because it was so bright in my room and I had a huge hangover. I shuffled to the bathroom, all the while cursing myself for drinking so much last night. After I finished using the bathroom I searched my medicine cabinet for some Aleve. As I was taking the pills I began to think of last night and how it took a nose dive with Chaz. I was really beginning to fall for him, but I had already friendzoned him and in the 3 days I have known him, I have had to deal with two crazy ass women that would go crazy over the dick. After I took my medicine I went back into my room and got into the bed and was searching for my remote when my phone began ringing. I looked at the screen and rolled my eyes, it was Donavan and I honestly didn’t know if I really wanted to hear what he had to say. I decided to answer at the very last moment, and I instantly regretted it. “Yea?” I answered dryly. “Babe, where you been? I been calling you for hours. I miss you.” He said. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was 11:30, after I saw the time I began to mentally go over the list of things that I needed to do before the day was over. “Baby are you listening to me? I am sorry about everything that has happened.” He said. “I hear you Donavan.” I said. “But are you listening.” He said. “Honestly no Donavan, you a fucking liar. You cheated, got someone pregnant, and then proposed to the girl. I can never be with you again. And what you did this time is not even the worst shit you’ve done to me in the 2 years we’ve been together. Let just be done Donavan.” I said. “Are you serious Ari? After everything we been through? You know I love you girl and I am sorry for everything I did. Please forgive me.” He pleaded. “Good bye Donavan, your fiancée was kind enough to call me and tell me to stay away from you.” I said. “NO! DON’T HANG UP!” He said rather desperately. My interest begin to peak, I had never heard Donavan beg for ANYTHING, not even the time he cheated on me and asked for me back. “Donavan, why are you trying so hard? I’ve never heard you beg for a damn thing.” I said. “Are you serious Ari? Its because I love you and want you back. I’ll do whatever it takes to get my baby back.” He said. I laughed and said “Oh cut the bullshit Donavan! Just tell me why your fighting so hard! I don’t have time, I need to prepare for my upcoming trip. I don’t have time to play the guessing game with you.” “I’ve told you already! I want you back! I want our family back!” He screamed. “FAMILY! Donavan you made me lose my baby! You cheated on me! Lied to me! Beat me! Fuck you Donavan! Bye!” I yelled as I hung up. I was so pissed off, I couldn’t believe that asshole tried to weasel his way back into my life.

I went to my home office and began catching up on work. I have been working as an International Mediator for about a year, and it has been by far one of the most fulfilling thing that I have done in my life. I travel to various countries and sit in on meetings with people from various walks of life, teachers, lawyers, diplomats, it doesn’t matter their walk of life I fix whatever problem they may be having. My next trip to the Ivory Coast was to help a grassroot organization prepare a proposal for the UN to get supplies and support to combat the AIDS epidemic rampant in their country. In addition to that, I was meeting with the US diplomats stationed there and going over what can be done to further strengthen Ivory Coast-US relations.

I was so engrossed in my work that before I knew it was 6:00 at night and I hadn’t eaten all day, nor had I seen my phone. I stretched and got up and walked to my kitchen, I was still mulling over what’s for dinner when I heard a knock at my door. I was a little peeved, because everyone knows I hate when people show up unannounced. I went to the door and checked my peephole, it was a delivery man. I was a little thrown off, because I wasn’t even aware they made deliveries on Sundays. I opened the door “Yes?” “Package for Miss. Arianna Carter.” He said in a nonchalant tone. “Yes? How can I help you?” I said in an equally as dry tone. He made me sign for and then gave me a dozen red roses. Before I could even get thank you out good he was already on his way down the steps. I went back into my apartment and searched for a card to identify who these beautiful flowers came for, silently hoping and praying they weren’t from Donavan. Ari, I am sorry about last night turned out, give me a call when you can -Chaz  After I read it I got all giddy inside because it was so sweet, he was really shaping up to be a nice guy, but I couldn’t forget all the crazy ex drama that kept popping up.
