The gunshots rang out overhead, making your ears ring as the blood rushed to your head in an adrenaline check. Washington and Carolina stood ready to fight on either side of you. The shot was just a warning; something to silence the room. Surrounding the three of you on all sides, you readied your own fighting stance, tensed and prepared to spring into action.

"What do we do?" Washington hissed. Carolina barely glanced at him. "We wait to see what it is we want. (S/N), turn on your radio- try to do it subtly. I'm thinking that if anyone back home can hear us in our situation, they'll come to help." You nod, muttering, "If they give enough of a damn about us," and from your stance, you bring your hand up to your earpiece and press gently.

"This is 479er, what is your position?" crackles across the radio. "Shhh, just listen," you whisper harshly in response, continuing, "we need an evac team A.S.A.P, try to get a squad together. We're surrounded on all sides; we're going to need a lot of help. Do not turn off this transmission." There's silence on the other end, and for a moment, you worry that the other side had gone offline before you got the chance to relay your message. Then, you hear, "copy that, Agent (S/N). We've got a team coming your way."

You turn your attention back to the soldiers, glancing at Washington and Carolina before eventually tuning into the conversation. "You know, I was surprised at how easy this was. It's a real shame, honestly. I was hoping for something more... Exciting." The armoured male before the three of you suddenly stops, tilting his head head slightly. Your eyes flicker to his hand, which barely moved to rest on the gun at his side. Then, you lift your eyes to the ceiling, watching dust fall slowly. You shift your shoulders slightly, settling into your stance again. You can hear the other freelancers stirring on the airship, preparing for dropoff.

"The others will be here soon," you relay to Wash and Carolina quietly. Carolina acknowledges you subtly. "On my mark, we'll make a break for it towards that table. We should be able to take cover behind it while the room is cleared. Sync?" She nods briefly towards a table, almost entirely across the room. You notice the soldier still hasn't moved, but now you can feel his eyes on you. "Sync," you reply, Wash's response coming at the same as yours.

The soldier seems to finally catch on. "Well, speak of the de--"

There's an explosion overhead, and chunks of ceiling come crashing down. "Mark!" Carolina shouts, breaking into a sprint for the table. You fall into action behind her with Wash right with you. The room is suddenly much louder, gunshots and explosions ringing out. You fend off the soldiers that attack the three of you, and you can hear North and Wyoming and York communicating with each other on the other side of the room.

York comes around the table, grabbing you by the arm and pulling you to your feet. He hands you a gun, and you toss your pistol aside, glancing over the new weapon in your hands. "Wash and Carolina can handle themselves. Help us make a path to the extraction point so we can get the hell out of here," he commands, pulling you out into the main fight. The battle that ensues goes on for what feels like hours.

There's a moment where you're distracted briefly by an explosion, and then suddenly you're on the floor, crushed beneath the weight of York. He groans, rolling over onto his back. Your own back sings with excruciatingly high levels of pain, but you get up, radioing to the others that York's been hurt, and we need to leave- now!

You see Carolina and Wash come out from the table, still locked in an engagement against that section of the room. "Carolina, catch!" You call, tossing her a grenade before leaning to pick up York and throw him over your shoulder. The dead weight causes undue pressure on your back and shoulder blades, but you push through it. You feel as if it's the least you can do. He's hurt because you got distracted, after all. You hear Delta relaying information to Carolina about York's vitals, while Theta helps North keep a clear, safe path for you to pass through and get to the extraction point. 479er waits for you and your team as you board, still trying to hold your attackers at bay.
