The Last Slice: BTO

So here I was, nonchalantly live-streaming with a group of friends. Codex was playing as well, but they left to get a snack. I always keep one headphone next to my ear (not on it, next to it so I could hear what's happening around me), so when I hear a blood-curling screech of terror from somewhere in the house, I flip my headphones off my head and fall out of my chair.

At this point, the chat is going wild, asking things like, "OMG WHAT WAS THAT?!" And "ARE YOU OKAY? WHAT HAPPENED!" I quickly say that I'm okay, and go to investigate.

Nothing would have prepared me for what I saw.

Codex was sitting on their legs on the kitchen floor, staring at an overturned plate of cheesecake, remains splattered on the floor, their palms up and arms outstretched. They slowly looked up at me with a devastated expression and whispered slowly. "It was the last slice."
