Code Blue

Things that happened in Sandy Hook,

Is nothing you read about in a book,

As children are the face of purity,

They were all shot at around 9:30.

And as I am here and my sister was there,

I pray to god asking her life to spare,

She was eight years old,

And saw a bloody body;dead and cold.

I wish I could steal those memories from her mind,

And replace it with something generous and kind.

Who could do such a thing?

The thoughts in my head make my eyes begin to sting.

27 were killed,

18 children permanently stilled,

As bullets fly down the hall,

I stay by a phone, waiting for her call.

I'm thankful she's ok,

And hope those involved pay,

This event was worse than colombine,

This carnage caused by swine.

And when she was there,

And I was here,

There was nothing I could do,

Far away trapped in a code blue.
