Streets

She was young and thin,

Sweet and smart,

Perfect from the outside looking in,

But everything fell apart.

Now her stockings are ripped,

And she's a total mess,

Lost in the alcohol she's sipped,

Doing what no woman could confess.

She fell in love many times,

Giving them everything,

Feeding into moral crimes,

Hoping to feel something.

But when she couldn't find it,

She walked alone,

Scavenging for another hit,

Her heart not fully grown.

All these different faces,

She hopes to find the one,

Money in different places,

Throwing her away after they're done.

Maybe one of these days,

When she's in the gutter,

Someone could help in ways,

That wouldn't make her shutter.

I guess this is what happens when you can't say no,

Falling to their feet,

Putting her body out for show,

Wandering the streets.
