{ Taylor }

Pulling up to my new apartment, I smiled. I'm finally home. I'm back in LA. After two years, I'm happy to be back here,

"Mommy?" my attention was directed to the backseat where my little blonde boy sat in his carseat, gazing forward,

"We're here Carter" I smiled.

I got out of the car and opened the back door, helping my two year old out,

"Let's go see our new place" I took Carter's hand and led him to the sidewalk,

"What one?" He bounced as he clung to my hand,

"We have to go up the stairs bubba" I laughed as we turned a corner. We walked up the stairs and turned left, our apartment now right in front of us,

"That's it" I told Carter. He ran to the door and tried to open it, but of course it was locked,

"Let me open it" I smiled.

I reached past him and unlocked the door before opening it. We walked in and Carter took off, running around the whole place. I just saw the mess of boxes I had to unpack.

"Mommy? My woom at?" Carter asked, his big blue eyes looking at me,

"Which one do you want?" I asked. The two rooms were the exact same size and they both had their own bathrooms, so it didn't really matter,

Carter looked between the rooms that were directly across from each other before he chose one, running into it and cheering.

I went down to the car and grabbed the few bags we had and brought the up to the apartment, then started moving boxes to where they needed to go.

I got furniture moved around and set up and by 6 pm, I had the living room and kitchen together. I just needed to do both mine and Carter's rooms and bathrooms, but we needed to go shopping for that.

I walked into Carter's empty room, finding him playing with a few of his cars,

"Hey Car, how about we go get pizza for dinner then we're gonna go do some grocery shopping" I told him. He nodded and hopped up to his feet.

We ended up at a pizza place I used to come to all the time. I came here all the time with Carter's dad and our friends. That thought suddenly made me sad. Luke doesn't even know about his son- the kid who looks exactly like him.

"That looks good buddy" I drew my attention to Carter's kids menu. He was coloring it but it was all out of the lines. He gave me a cheeky smile and kept scribbling.

Our pizza arrived and we both started eating, and that's when two people caught my eye. Across the restaurant was Michael and Crystal- Luke's best friends, mine before I left too. Crystal caught my eye and she squinted. I looked away,

"Carter, hurry up bub. We still gotta go to the grocery store" I told him. He nodded and kept eating.

Just as we finished and were getting up, Michael and Crystal walked over,

"Taylor?" Michael asked,

"H-hi" I stuttered,

"I thought you were in Florida?" Crystal asked,

"Yeah, uh, I just got my job transferred back here" I answered, taking Carter's hand in mine,

"Who's this?" Michael questioned- but I could tell he had already figured it out,

"This is my son" I almost whispered. Michael's eyes stayed on Carter,

"Well" I coughed, "We need to go" I went passed them and out of the restaurant,

"We'll go to the grocery tomorrow. Let's just go home and get some sleep" I sighed and buckled Carter in. He returned a yawn and nodded.

As soon as I had Carter in bed, I collapsed on mine, squeezing my eyes shut,

Michael's obviously going to tell Luke. I was hurting. When Luke and I broke up, it was okay but then it turned. I was basically leaving him. I was moving thousands of miles away for my job.

I found out I was pregnant two weeks after I moved and I just didn't tell Luke. We weren't talking anymore and the band was busy and taking off well. I couldn't hold him back, so I didn't tell him.

But Carter- oh Carter- he looks just like Luke. Hair, nose, eyes- all Luke.

Just as tears left my eyes, my room door opened and Carter came in, clutching his blue baby blanket to his chest,

"Come here bub" I reached my arms out. He climbed in and I cuddled him close,

"I love you"
