From now on, Lan Zhan will be referred to as Wang Xian. This is who he believes he is at this time in the story and that is the name that Wei Ying must call him. He is not currently Lan Wangji, the Second Young Master or Twin Jade of Lan. I hope this does not confuse anyone.

I apologize that this chapter is so short.  Once I finished what I thought would be the next chapter, I realized just how long it was so I decided to break it up into 3 parts.  The next updates will follow in the next day or two.  Thank you for reading, sharing, voting, and commenting!!

Wei Ying's eyelids felt like they had weights on them and he fought to open them. His brain was foggy, not knowing what had happened to him. He found himself lying on a strange bed in an unfamiliar room but the smells that reached his nose were ones that brought back good memories. He looked around slowly and saw Wang Xian stirring something in a large kettle over a fire, his wet hair hanging loosely over his shoulders. Never, in all the years Wei Ying had known him, had he seen his friend with this appearance.

Wei Ying sat up, his head clearing a bit and a pleasant sound reaching his ears. 'It can't be!' he thought to himself. But it was. In his deep and pleasant voice, Wang Xian was humming THEIR SONG!  Somehow, somewhere, in Wang Xian's deepest mind, Wei Ying was still there. He remembered that song, even taking its name as his own. Whatever had happened to him, he must have held on to that particular memory so tightly that it could not be erased. Maybe there was hope for them!

Wei Ying swung his legs over the side of the bed and a quiet moan escaped his lips. All those months of travel, of little sleep, and of little time for proper meals had caught up to him. His strength was that of a tiny child, his head spinning at the quick movement.

"You're finally up." Wang Xian said kindly with a big smile.

"Yeah." Wei Ying answered painfully. "Although I feel like I should sleep for another year. I must be getting old." A single hmph showing his discomfort at the slightest movement.

"Here." Wang Xian said, handing him a small wooden bowl. "I made you something that is good for the body and the soul. I'm not the best cook but it should help." The bowl was filled with a soup Wei Ying had once despised eating, but now, seemed like the most delicious meal he had ever tasted. Only vegetables swirled around in the broth but Wei Ying gobbled it up in the blink of an eye.

"Thank you." He bowed then wiped the broth off his lips with his sleeve. Wei Ying stared at Wang Xian wondering what he should say next. He had never been at a loss for words like this but, then again, he had never been in a situation as confusing, heartbreaking, and frustrating as this one before.

"I apologize, young master, but you never told me your name." Wang Xian said, trying to start a conversation.

"Hmmm, sorry. It's Wei......." he stopped suddenly, a thought flashing through his brain. 'I can't tell him my real name,' he realized sadly. 'My name is Wei Ying, Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Patriarch. A name that holds only fear and hatred for many people. I can't tell him.'

Inside, his heart was screaming 'Lan Zhan!  It's me!!  It's Wei Ying!  YOUR Wei Ying! Come back to me!!'   But his mouth released the only other name he could think of.

"I'm Mo Xuanyu."
