'Assumptions are like thorns to the flesh that pierces apart even the purest of intentions into an irreparable damage'

LAUREN  POV

Few minutes into the drive, I decide to ring my Doris to inform her I'm on my way to pick her up so we could go back in times of past event and dig up some juicy experience. She dare to returned and cross path with me. I blame the so called husband who disrespected me by jumping into her bed.

I grip the steering so tight until my veins begins to pop out.

Doris and I have been friends for twelve years with inclusive of our other friends: Sarah and Chloe. They are like siblings I never had. Doris personality a bit similar to mine but sometimes she act like Sarah in words which pisses me off.

Chloe and I hardly see things in the same perspective, I only tolerate her because of Doris and Sarah. Chloe always sort for opportunities to attack me about how I'm a bad luck in Nick's life. We had a major fight where I almost ripped her hair off her skull when she dare to challenge me that Nick will divorce me anytime soon, I don't know what Doris and Sarah sees in her anyways to still keep her with the group. My gut tells me she has feelings for Nick and I swear will rid her apart if I smell her near him.

Sarah on the other hand is a party goer who doesn't believed in love and being tie to one man for the rest of her life because of several failed relationship and heartbreaks that we'd lost count of. she called marriage 'prison' which I kind of agree with her on some grounds. Her motto is live for the moment. Aside from her hateful nature to be committed in relationships, she's a sweet soul. She will always want to put all of us in check and balance. If we needed someone to spill the truth to our face in any situation without trying to pet us, we'd go to Sarah.

My ringing phone brings me out of my little trance, I glance at the caller ID and answered it with my hands free device.

"Hey girl" I say

"It took you forever to call, right?" Doris imitate an angry voice which makes her sound funny

"Sorry, I was about calling you. I'm heading to your place now" I inform her

"That's why I called, I'm heading out with Frederick and you know how he can be" She says boringly

"You and Frederick are together now?" I ask with a surprise tone

The last time I checked these two broke up four months ago and it was a relived for all of us seeing there wasn't any good headlight in their relationship but Doris was hanging on the hope that things will change for the better.

"Not really though, he asked me out for lunch. I think he want us to get back again"

"Do you want him back?" I asked curiously praying she says no because I wasn't ready to babysit her when he breaks her heart again.

"Well...I do missed that big head" She laughed nervously and exhaled.

"Doris, you know..."

"Yea, I know what he did and I won't fall for his charm. I just want to get that free food" She giggles at the last word and I laugh.

Doris will always be Doris. I smile and shook my head.

"Alright, don't worry. Have fun. I will deal with this myself" I sigh

"Are you sure?"

"Very sure" I assured her

"Okay, I gotta go now, don't forget I will need all the gist and of course with details" she giggles from the other end.
