In the morning I feel regret.  He made my life horrible.  My thoughts are cut short as Mason wheels into the room with a tray of breakfast.  He hands it to me, and pulls himself onto the bed.  He's made pancakes and bacon with a bowl of cut fruit on the side.  I wonder at myself that he's really trying here.
Without words we start in, sharing a plate.  When the food is gone I take the tray back to the kitchen, rinse the dish and pop it in the dishwasher.
My thoughts are wild.  I'll fully admit that I tend to act on things before knowing how I really feel about them.  It takes me a lot of processing and denial before it sinks in.  This morning I'm finally starting to understand how I feel about being with Mason last night.  There's hope for the future, but it's mixed with indecision and fear.  I go to my room and get ready to give myself a minute before I have to face him.
When I come out Mason is waiting in the living room.  It's time to go back to the gym in the pack house, and work out.  He drives us to over.  We stick to polite conversation.  I think he can feel my indecision and is giving me time to think.
After his work out we split up.  Mason goes to the Alpha's office to work with his dad, and I go find Luna Victoria to talk about building a green house.  Sometime last night I decided the pack could use another business for funds.

It's been weeks now since Mason's doctor's appointment.  With my help he's walking.  This morning we're in the clinic to find out how his injury is healing.  She's testing his injury without my touching him.
"Alright Mason, I'm going to touch your feet, and I want you to tell me if I'm touching you with something sharp or dull.  Now what is that?"
"I can't feel anything," Mason says tensely.
"That's okay.  I'm going to move up your legs.  Tell me when you can feel something."
"There!  I can feel that!"  She's made it up to his thigh.
"Good!  That means the nerves are growing back.  That's what I want to hear."  She has delight in her voice.
I can feel that Mason's doing some inner celebrating, and I can't help but grin in victory.  It's working!
When the appointment is finished I put my hand on his lower back, I lean in to surreptitiously steal a smell of his scent, and we walk from the clinic.
Coming out of the sound proof clinic right away we can hear a commotion.  Foot steps are pounding all over the house.  There's so much talk that it's hard to focus on what people are saying.  We rush into the living room to see what's going on.  When we get there it's nothing but chaos.
Finally Connor comes rushing by, carrying someone wrapped in a blanket.  He goes into the hall we just came from, heading to the clinic.
"What's going on," Mason demands of someone he's stopped.  "Who got hurt."
"It's Jessa!  She's alive.  They found her on the north end of the property."
