Chapter 18

Kang Gook woke up in the middle of the night, the air in his cabin was stale and he decided to go upstairs, the wind immediately hit his face and two sailors soon noticced that the secretary was out with them.

"You shouldn't be here sir, it is way too cold, why don't you go back to your cabin?" the sailor asked

Kang Gook ignored him and looked at the water. He thought about what he had to do in Hanseong

"Why did you do this Tae Joo... what should I do now? Huh? Am I supposed to go back and say hello the prince is dead and he sent me here so that I could check if someone was trying to kill him? Was this your plan Tae Joo?" Kang Gook thought

He was thinking about in such an intense way that he fell back onto the wworld he belonged when he felt the arms of the sailors pulling him

"What are you doing?"

"We already asked you to go back to your cabin but it looks like you didn't pay attention sir, what are we supposed to do if you fell? We cannot waste our time looking for you, now please, listen to us and go back to your cabin!"

"Fine... forgive me, I didn't mean to bother you, I will go back immediately, good work" the sailors nodded and kang Gook went downstairs, he looked around and he noticed that a servant was waiting in front of a door, he was holding a tray full of food so the secretary came closer to him

"Hello?" Kang Gook said waving at him, the servant sighed

"Oh finally... my shift is over and I don't want to spend thee rest of the night waiting for this passenger to open the door, take this and wait until he opens." teh servant said as he gave Ksng Gook the tray and left.

"Hey wait! Nevermind..." Kang Gook said sighing, he wanted to tell him that he wasn't a servant but he eventually gave up, that person looked really tired and he thought he could resist a few minutes with a tray, he was the prince's secretary but since the prince was dead he was actually unemployed.

The secretary knocked but he immediately  noticed that the door was already opened, he pushed it a little so that he could pass through it and looked  inside. The room was really dark but he managed to find a table

"may I leave the tray on the table sir?" Kang Gook asked, nobody answered so he left it on the table and turned to leave. He looked at the door frame and saw a tall shadow

"I left your food on the table sir" Kang Gook said trying to sound polite while his right hand reached his dagger

The person didn't say anything, he just came closer to the secretary, there was an handkerchief covering his face but Kang Gook could still clearly see his eyes

"Tae..." Kang Gook stuttered, the maan covered his mouth and pushed him inside the cabin, he then locked the door while still pressing his fingers on the secretary's mouth.

As the mysterious person turned to check something that the secretary probably didn't even noticed, Kang Gook grabbed him and pushed him near the small window of the room.

The man tried to fight back but Kang Gook managed to pull the hadkerchief down and uncover his face.

The moonlight was now shining in Tae Joo's eyes, he was staring at the secretary who just discovered the truth

"Tae J..."

'Shut up, i suppose that you were sad when you found out that I was dead, well... guess what? If you call me by my name or my title I will be dead, and this won't be a fake death this time" the prince replied angrily

"But... how did thi even happen? I saw you! I'm sure I saw you!'' Kang Gook replied shocked

"Don't be silly Kang Gook, it is just impossible..."

"Well, can't you explain at least?" Kang Gook asked confused

"Fine... give me that paper, I will write it down, I don't want someone to overhear our conversation." Tae Joo added. He took the sheet and started writing

When he was finished Kang Gook took it an started reading

When I told you that you had to go alone to Hanseong it wsa because nobody, and I really mean nobody, had to knwo about my location. I planned tto come with you without letting you see me directly, the death was just a part that I didn't connsider before the departure..  you surely didn't see me jumping off the cliff, you saw someone wearing my clothes, it looks like a crazy man managed to enter the palace and stole my coat... it is pretty sad that he died but what could I do about that? The governor will believe that I'm still at jeju but this can only last a few days before he finds out that I escaped... now, are you going to help me so that we can prevent a civil war Kang Gook?
