Chapter 10

Kang Gook waited for a few seconds, then he finally opened the door, the prince was asleep, his head was laying on the keyboard of the clavichord. Kang Gook came closer to him to make sure that he just fell asleep and that there weren't problems of any kind. The prince's bedroom wasn't that far and it looked like almost nothing could wake him up, Kang Gook took him and he was pretty surprised as he noticed that he was way lighter than what he thought. 

"what... what are you doing... ji... ji Tae..." Tae Joo murmured

At first Kang Gook didn't pay attention to what the prince was saying, he thought that it was just a nightmare and that it was better to take him to his room before anything else. 

The secretary managed to put him down on his bed, Tae Joo looked calm now. Kang Gook waited for a moment and looked at the prince more carefully, he noticed the red skin around his closed eyes, how much time did he cry? Probably hours... and his hair was messy too. 

"Oh, you are awake secretary, the royal palace sent this, it arrived a few minutes ago, I wanted to give it tomorrow morning but since you're awake I suppose that there is no reason to wait." an eunuch said, Kang Gook nodded and took the letter

"It looks like you will have a new guest soon your highness..." Kang Gook whispered

"Who are you talking about?" 

"Tae Joo?!" 

"Know your place secretary, you are not supposed to call me by my name, I'm the crown prince, not a merchant on the street, is it clear?" 

"What if I tell you that this is just a dream?" Kang  Gook replied, trying to avoid problems the following day

"Oh, so this is a dream, I thought that my dreams were just composed of several scene of my Ji Tae dying in front of me and begging for help, but it looks like you think that this is just a silly game and that I'm just a weak prince looking for love and friends. Tell me Kang Gook, is this what you think?" Tae Joo asked

"This is... just a dream" what was Kang Gook thinking? There could be two reasons: he was thinking that after repeating that it was just a dream the prince would have eventually given up... or maybe he thought that showing that it was the reality could just mae it worse... silly move in both ideas

"So... this is just a dream... you might be right after all..." Tae Joo said as he stood up, then he took a dagger from the table

"Now I'm wondering if the moment when your strong arms took me here was a dream too or not... well... since you look so sure that this is a dream... what if I cut your head? Wouldn't it be funny Kang Gook?" Tae Joo said as the tip of his dagger touched the skin of the secretary's neck

"I apologize your highness, I was scared" 

"So this isn't a dream... you disappointed me Kang Gook" Tae Joo replied. Kang Gook sank to the ground

"I apologize, please forgive me" 

"Stand up... I just want to sleep... let's just pretend that this never occured..." Tae Joo said as he sat on his bed, however, Kang Gook continued begging for his forgiveness

"I'm really sorry... please your highness..." 

"I said stand up! Go away! How could you act like that! Do you even imagine how much I'm suffering right now? I thought that you could try to help me at least! I spent years with him! Do you even know how terrible it can be to see the person you loved so much..."

"Tae joo..."

"Stop calling me like that! You're just a secretary! You can't call me Tae Joo! He's the only one who can! Clear?!" Tae Joo shouted, Kang Gook looked away

"he was... " Kang Gook whispered

"Do you think that I want a grammar lesson now!? Do you think that I don't know the difference between present and past? I'll make it easier then... past... I was happy with my lover... present I dream about my hands covered in my lover's blood, do you think that I know how to create correct sentences?"

"I'm... sorry your highness..."

"Oh, come here guys! The secretary is sorry! You know what? I'm sorry too! I'm sorry that the only person I truly loved died because of me! Do you think this is a good reason to be sorry?"

"He... he killed himself your highness... it isn't your fault" Kang Gook replied. Tae Joo went closer to Kang Gook and smiled

"Sometimes I feel like you're a little too innocent secretary... or maybe you're just trying to drive me mad... this is a court! Killing someone for your aim is something that might happen! Open your eyes for a moment, forget about the ceremonies and the nice dresses... we are all humans... it doesn't change if you stab a farmer or a prince... they will both die..." 

"Tae Joo... you have to rest now" don't ask why he called him Tae Joo again... because there's no answer

"I told you to... to stop..." Tae Joo started crying on his secretary's shoulder
