I hide under a cover
Enclosing the real me
Locking away my true self
Twenty-four seven
I don't want to stand out of the crowd
So I hide under my hood of melancholy
And under shadows of salvation
Binding my other self into steel chains of fear
I want to stand out of the crowd
Because of my obscure identity
But I can't look up
I can't smile properly
I can't walk properly
Someone tried to talk to me
And I looked at them
With so much emotion-
I had so much to say
So much I wanted to know
But I gave a shake of my head
And turned away
Back into my shadows of comfort
Back into my tomb of wistful memories
--------
I looked up towards the sky today
And loosened the chains of my true self
And furthered myself away from the shadows
And
I smiled at the clouds
Because someone smiled at me
It's a start.
