After their little conversation in the broom cupboard, Draco and Emma went back to hating each other

After their little conversation in the broom cupboard, Draco and Emma went back to hating each other. The unnecessary glares and middle fingers returned within hours, but so did that tension Daphne had pointed out.

Emma still couldn't stand Draco Malfoy, with his stupid blond hair and annoying little comments but she had to admit it, he did things to her. Things she both hated and liked at the same time and Draco knew it. Whenever he wasn't insulting her or plain ignoring her, he would be sending Emma's these little smirks and reminding her of their time together in the broom cupboard.

Emma couldn't even look at him without blushing for almost a week. But during a Transfiguration class, Emma had sent Draco a wink across the classroom. She felt extremely satisfied as his face turned red.

After said Transfiguration class, Emma was surprised when Blaise Zabini approached her and suggested they walked to the great hall together.

"How's your week been so far?" Blaise asked as Emma waved Daphne out the door.

"Slow, very slow," Emma said, which made Blaise chuckle.

"At least it's Friday," Blaise compromised.

"It doesn't feel like Friday when you have double potions last class," Emma complained as they walked out the door. "And with Slughorn who probably has a Harry Potter fan club? Yeah, not a very enjoyable class."

"You're funny," Blaise pointed out, laughing again. "Are you going to the Quidditch match tomorrow?"

"I'll probably go down, but I'm not too sure yet," Emma shrugged, her eyes focused on the large doors of the great hall which we coming into view. "It's against Gryffindor isn't it?"

Blaise nodded. "Yeah, it is. Maybe if they lose, the Harry Potter fan club with disband."

Emma chuckled. "Hopefully."

"I might see you there then," Blasie said as they approached the Slytherin table. Emma gave him a smile before he went to sit with his friends, which included Draco. The blond boy raised his eyebrows at her when Emma passed. She smirked and Draco looked away, visibly annoyed.

It was nice to know Emma had the same effect on Draco as he had on her.

Daphne was already seated further down the table. Emma joined her and began adding food to her plate.

Emma ate in silence, glancing down the table every now and again. She watched as Draco's jaw clenched and unclenched while he ate, and she was brought back to the broom cupboard...

"Emma," Daphne piped up, making Emma jump. "Are you okay?"

Emma raised her right eyebrow. "Yeah?"

Daphne sighed and dropped the turkey sandwich she was eating. "You've been a bit on edge lately. You zone out a lot more than usual, and you get flustered a lot."

Emma swallowed her lunch, and felt it slowly slide down her throat. "Really?" she squeaked.

"Is it because of that comment I made?" Daphne asked. She glanced around and leaned forward, lowering her voice to a whisper. "About you and Draco? I'm really sorry. I meant it as a joke."

Emma forced a chuckle. "Oh Merlin, I completely forgot about that," she lied smoothly. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine, my dear cousin."

Daphne sighed. "Good," she said in a breathy voice. "I was starting to feel really guilty."

Emma smiled and was extremely glad when the topic was dropped. Was it really that obvious? Emma suddenly became a lot more aware of her physical self, and forbid herself from looking down the table again.

After taking their time with their lunch and going for a quick walk around the castle, Daphne and Emma headed down to the dungeons. They were one of the last students to enter the potions classroom, having got caught up at the Black Lake (Emma had tried to push Daphne in).

Slughorn sent them a nod as they entered, as if to say hurry up. The cousins sat at their usual seats with Theodore and Draco. Emma couldn't help but notice how the latter ignored her completely.

The class flew by in a whirl of cauldron steam and strange smelling ingredients. Emma was actually surprised when Slughorn dismissed them, having expected the class to go on for much longer.

The students packed up their things and headed for the exit. Emma took her time, and couldn't help but notice Draco stuffing his belongings away quickly and leaving.

Daphne, Emma and Theodore left after Draco. While walking through the corridors and in the direction of the Slytherin house, Emma noticed Draco taking a wrong turn and heading up to the main part of the castle.

"Oh shoot," Emma said, interrupting the conversation Daphne and Theodore were having. "I think I left my quill."

"We've potions first thing on Monday," Theodore said. "I'm not bothered to go back now-"

"I just go get it really quick," Emma rushed, eyeing where Draco had gone. "It's special."

Theodore and Daphne shared a look at the mention of a special quill, but they said nothing as Emma turned around. Once she was sure they had entered the common room, she turned on her heel and hurried in the direction Draco had gone.

She found him easily in the first corridor she turned down. He was pulling at a door, which was obviously locked, with a sour look on his face.

"What are you doing?" Emma asked and Draco jumped violently. Emma smirked.

"N-nothing," Draco spat. "What do you want?"

Emma decided to ignore Draco's suspicious behaviour. "We have to get the task going, whether we like it or not."

She was referring to what happened in the broom cupboard, but Draco didn't seem to have caught her point. "Ok. We'll do it tomorrow during the quidditch match. So no body sees us."

Emma raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you playing tomorrow? It's Slytherin versus Gryffindor-"

"There's more important things than quidditch, Cresswell," Draco said. He tried to have a stone-cold expression, but Emma could hear the slight panic in his voice.

"Okay! Calm down Malfoy," Emma sighed. "We'll do it tomorrow."

Draco glared at her. "Don't make it obvious, Cresswell," he told her. "You've already made it obvious enough."

He bumped into her shoulder, hard, as he walked passed her and left her alone in the corridor. Emma couldn't fight off the blush rising in her cheeks, knowing Draco's last comment wasn't about their task.
