And a long flight it was. Everest ignored her two traveling companions, instead putting earphones in and reading her grimoire, clamping down on the hurt and anger she was feeling. She would do this for Bella, while the girl was still hers. She knew it would break her heart when they returned to Forks and Bella decided to take Edward back, but she knew that she would do anything to keep Bella happy, even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness to do so, because Isabella Swan was her 'one'. Some witches had a few, some had one, and she knew from her readings that Bella was hers. She had been waiting to explain it to the girl, wanting her to move on from the vampire first but it seems that, that would never happen.
Even when Everest Weller fell in love with Isabella Swan and found out about witches, wolves, and Vampires; she never thought she'd have to meet the Volturi.
Witches and Vampires have a complicated relationship. They always had, with the witch trials amongst other times in history were instigated by the other, However, they also have a history of protecting each other just as much as they fought each other. When the Romanians ruled the vampires, Witches and Vampires were each others enemy number 1, always at war, always fighting. However, when the Volturi overthrew the Romanians, Aro, Marcus and Caius knew that it would be more beneficial to be allies, and so an alliance was struck between Vampire royalty and the Witches High Council. In each others court they would have a representative to help smooth over any problems that arose, Vampires would be punished by the Volturi for killing a witches' 'one' except in self defense, the same going for a Vampire's true mate for the Witches. Killing the other species was against the law unless in self defense or unless they broke a law, and if Witches 'one' was mortal, and knew about the vampires, they would be exempt from the law of mortals not knowing unless they told other mortals, and had to be bound to a vow of silence.
