"So you're not going to do anything for the rest of the day right?" You asked me as we finally finished our small brunch.

"No, my mom is out." I sighed sadly but put on a smile for you.

"And your dad?" You say as if it were the easiest thing to say.

I frowned but immediately put on another smile for you. "He's out too."

We get out of the café and walk to the front. "Ah, so a date I take it?"

I laughed at the silly thought, of course a sad laugh.

But you smiled so I nodded and pretended that was what was going on.

"So since you're not doing anything, I'll keep you." You smiled widely as we walked on the sidewalk.

Keep me? Interesting way to form your meaning.

"Where to?" I blushed a little but didn't mention what you could have implied.

"Where do you want to go?" You asked softly and stopped walking.

We stopped in front of a car, maybe yours?

"The beach?"

You nod and take keys out, guess it is your car.

"You're not gonna drive right?" I say through a nervous smile.

"Right, the ghost of your grandma will!" You chuckled and I faked a laugh.

So fake, you laughed because of it.

We got in and put our seatbelts on.

We're high school seniors and here we are.
