"Family of Kayleigh Seavey" the doctor says coming out into the waiting room

after she passed out and we got to the hospital i wasn't allowed to see her

i've been waiting in this waiting room forever

at home everyone left, and Jonah brought Rae and Ryland to the hospital as we wait

i've been talking to my mom and kayleigh's cousin about everything and they are giving me hope

"i-i'm her husband" i say walking over

"hi i'm so sorry about earlier"

"it was scary. do you know what's happening to her?"

"yes and you do not need to worry at all. before i say anything else i will start by saying she is alive and sleeping okay"

"okay so what happened to her"

"so as you know her last chemo session was a week or so ago right"

"yes"

"well we figured out that the chemo actually got rid of the tumor three sessions ago. so the last ones were just attacking nothing that was there, which is good and bad. bad because it was causing her to have really bad headaches, but good cause you're eliminating the chance of it coming back. and so long story short she passed out, as her bodies way of telling her that she's okay now. if you can see what i'm trying to say is her body told her she was cancer free, and we did do a surgery just to make sure there was nothing there and well she truly is free of her cancer. she has very little to no chance of it coming back, however it will take a little bit of time for her to stop the aching and headaches but we do have medicine for that" look i'm not a doctor i don't know how this works but just deal with it

"so what i'm hearing is my wife is okay and won't die"

"not now and not from cancer at least, congratulations Mr. Seavey i'm sure you want to see her so I won't make you wait any longer" he smiles and i take Rae and Ryland and we walk over

"is she okay?" Rae asks me

"yes! she doesn't have cancer anymore Rae!"

"omg!"

the doctors shows us to a room and we walk in, seeing Kayleigh

she has a machine with her making sure she's breathing and something is wrapped around her head probably from the surgery

i kiss her forehead and she wakes up

"mmm where am i?" she asks

"baby you're in the hospital"

"oh right... wait i'm alive"

"yes you are and guess what"

"what?"

"you don't have cancer anymore" i tell her and her face lights up as she smiles

"you're kidding"

"nope. ask the doctor"

she asks and he nods

"yay!" she says smiling even wider

"is it going to come back?"

"theres a very small chance"

"so i'm okay? like what happens next"

"well we're gonna have you stay here tonight and just check on you and then tomorrow you will be able to go home and live your life" the doctor smiles

"wow i'm really done. Daniel did you hear that" she asks me as the doctor leaves

"i sure did babe. i knew you would survive. you've been through so much in your life and this is just one other thing"

"i hope nothing else bad happens to me, i've already have all my personal family dead, ive been stabbed almost dead, i haven't been able to eat half my life, and i've had cancer"

"but you survived still"

"even though all those bad things happened to me do you wanna know the best thing that has happened"

"what?"

"i met you and you gave me the most wonderful things. my beautiful son and my amazing step-daughter"
