16 Months Later

Me, Clementine and Christa sat in silence near a campfire in the middle of the moods. We tried cooking some kind of weasel we caught, but it started raining, which put out the fire.

Clementine: Christa, talk to us.

She sighs as she gets up and tends to the fire.

Christa: This'll never work. Look, it's pathetic. The woods too wet.

Y/N: It's okay, we don't mind waiting.

Christa: All we do is wait. And for what...? You both should be doing this, not me. You need to know how to tend a fire so you can cook and stay warm.

Clementine: It's too dangerous to stay here, we have to keep moving.

Christa: All we do is move. But we never seem to get anywhere.

Clementine shivers.

Clementine: I'm freezing.

I take off my jacket and hand it to her.

Y/N: Here, I'll be fine. Trust me.

Clementine: You sure?

I gave her a smile and nod. She smiles back.

Clementine: Thank you.

Christa: You think this is bad? Wait until we get Wellington, then talk to me about cold. If we make it. We still have some hard months to get through.

She gets up from the fire.

Christa: This rain will turn to sleet, then ice, then snow. It's not going to be easy.

I sigh.

Y/N: When is it ever easy?

Clementine: Is Wellington safe?

Christa: Safer than here because of the cold. At least from what I've heard.

Y/N: It makes sense. The walkers will freeze up, so they'll at least be slower.

Christa: Exactly. We'll just have to keep heading north.

Clementine: I miss Lee.

Y/N: Me too, Clem. Me too.

Christa: I'm sure you both do.

She walks up and starting heading deeper into the woods.

Christa: I'm gonna go look for more wood. Keep the fire lit.

I got up and looked around as Clementine looked in her bag.

Y/N: Here we go. This Log could help.

I picked up the log and returned to the fire. Clementine lit up a piece of paper and added it to the fire.

Clementine: Better. But we need more.

Y/N: Here. I got it.

I threw the log into the fire.

Y/N: It ain't much, but it'll help.

I then heard voices. Me and Clementine stood up in alert.

Y/N: That don't sound like Christa.

Crows fly off, starling me and Clem. We headed deeper in the forest and see Christa being held at gunpoint.

???: Where's the rest of your group?!

Christa: I-I'm by myself.

???: Bullshit!

???: She's lying.
