Chapter 37 - Run Iris, Run

MacKenzie's POV

I sit in the front seat as Joe drives me to STAR Labs

I had been at his house for the past few days and it's been a lot of fun

"So," Joe starts as he drives. "She didn't get arrested, but your foster mom, the one you told me and Singh about, her foster license was taken away and she was fined."

"Okay." I answer

"That's all we could get her on." Joe tells me. "I'm sorry it's not an arrest--"

"I didn't' need it to be an arrest." I tell him. "As long as she's not allowed to have any kids in her house is good on my end."

"Good girl." Joe says, patting me on the shoulder as he pulls the car to a stop at Star Labs. "Always looking out for other people -- you got a lot of good in you."

I nod

"Thanks." I say

I look out the window and see Caitlin approaching the car

"Jeez, it's like tag-teaming." I say with a laugh

Caitlin opens the door and I step out of the car, grabbing my backpack and shouldering it before waving a goodbye to Joe

Joe drives away

"Let's go." I tell Caitlin

We walk into STAR Labs

"What is all this?" Iris asks as Caitlin and I walk into the cortex

Harry is showing a board with a bunch of equations on it

"This is gonna give us the edge we finally need to be smarter than DeVoe." Harry says, pushing in another board of equations. "Or me to be smarter than DeVoe, actually. Take a look at this."

Harry walks across the room, drawing our attention to blueprints on the screen

"What is that?" Cisco asks

"This is an intelligence booster." Harry says. "You put this thing on Dibney here, and even he would be able to understand the point source construction. You put it on a real genius, I'll finally be able to outthink the Thinker."

"You know what, I'm not sure this thinking cap is the best idea you've ever had." Cisco says

"It's an intelligence booster." Harry corrects

"It looks like a thinking cap." Cisco says

"You don't like it, blame yourself." Harry says. "You gave me the idea."

"What?" Cisco asks

"You're the one that said DeVoe planned all this just like Thawne in order to stop Barry." Harry says. "And you said that DeVoe became the Thinker the same night you became the Flash, and so I hacked into security footage of that night to see how he did it." The footage of DeVoe with the cap on is shown. "This is why he's so smart. DeVoe boosted his intelligence with neurochemical engineering powered by the dark energy from the particle accelerator explosion. And if we build our own, we can do the exact same."

"Wait, you wanna blast your brain with 10 billion joules of dark energy?" Barry asks

"I've harnessed energy from the particle accelerator explosion before, and I can do it again." Harry says

"Yeah, but Harry, reengineering your brain's neurochemistry, that's..." Caitlin trails off
"DeVoe did it." Harry says. So can I. How many more metas have to die before we finally stop DeVoe?"
"Uh... not... Not me. I mean... I say we go for it." Ralph says. "Right? Right, guys?"
