Home- Next morning

Zephyr runs down the stairs to the dining room/kitchen.  Hiccup and Astrid are sitting down, eating breakfast.

HICCUP: Good morning Zephyr!

Zephyr: (slides into her chair) Morning!

ASTRID: Want some breakfast?

Astrid gets up and walks to the pot over the fireplace.  She scoops Zephyr a bowl of porridge.

ZEPHYR: Sure... I guess. (clears throat)  So, um, dad... I was wondering if I could go to the forest... today.

HICCUP: The forest?

ZEPHYR: Yeah....

Astrid sets the bowl in front of Zephyr.

ASTRID: Who would go with you?

Zephyr: Oh, well... you see... I was thinking... maybe I could go by myself?

ASTRID: By yourself???

ZEPHYR: Yeah, well, I mean, I did it the other day—

Zephyr stops.  Astrid's eyes widen.

ASTRID: You went, to the forest? By yourself?

ZEPHYR: (sheepishly) Yep... sorry mom.

ASTRID: What were you doing in the forest all alone?

ZEPHYR: Oh, well, I was taking a walk to, uhhh, calm my frustration.... ?

Astrid glares at Hiccup.  Hiccup slowly looks away from Astrid.

HICCUP: (clears throat) Why do you want to go to the forest?

ZEPHYR: Oh well, I thought I could go find the dagger I lost—

Astrid's eyes widen again.

ZEPHYR: Oh... yeah... sorry, mom.

Astrid sighs and sits down.

ASTRID: You lost your dagger? How?

ZEPHYR: Well, I kind of threw it at a tree in frustration... and I missed.

ASTRID: You threw it?

HICCUP: (interrupts) I thought you said you could make another one?

ZEPHYR: Yeah... well, I thought, why make another one when I can just go find the one I lost?  I mean it's probably out there... somewhere.

Hiccup and Astrid look at each other.

ASTRID: (sighs) Next time you're angry, try not to throw your dagger.  You might end up hurting someone in the future.

ZEPHYR: Okay.... So... can I go?

HICCUP: (looks at Astrid) Yes, you can go.

Zephyr jumps up, knocking down her chair.

ZEPHYR: (hugs Hiccup around the neck) Thank you dad!  Thank you mom!  Thank you!

Zephyr runs up the stairs.

HICCUP: Um, don't you want to finish your breakfast?

ZEPHYR: (calls down the stairs) No, I'm not hungry anymore!

Silence reigns. Astrid glares at Hiccup again.

HICCUP: (shrugs) What?
