𝓖ryffindors looked for excitement at every corner they happened to stumble upon, that's just how the house worked and no one really questioned the things they did to find it. This was the main reason why talking to the largest portrait in the common room didn't make Haley Rosamund appear demented. It just made it known that she was extremely bored.
She figured portraits had interesting lives, they were able to chose to go to whichever frame they belonged to whenever they wanted, after all. She knew they had to have witnessed something interesting sometimes. So Haley asked, and sadly, the portrait was pretty damn boring. But at least she could stir some things up for it, and herself included.
Haley chose to give it a task, to go to it's nearest other frame to deliver a dare to the first person it sees. And shortly, she actually received one back. It's rather simple and easy, and so are the next few, but eventually Haley and her mystery friend get a bit more reckless with dares as time passes. It was fun, though, so she didn't mind too much.
Not until she witnessed Draco Malfoy do her last dare in the Great Hall one morning. Then she cared too much because everyone knew Draco. They knew the kind of person he was, and he was the exact opposite of Haley. Except . . . not really. They'd had a lot in common for weeks, and although the Slytherin prince was a dick, he had—unfortunately—grown on her. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
˖⋆࿐໋ 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔:
— lmao pls change the description, it could be a lot better
— the slytherin and gryffindor common room's share the same portrait (so as you know, the people in paintings go to their other ones sometimes)
— one day haley's chatting with whoever is in the portrait (you can choose) and she tells it to tell someone in its other frame to do a dare (again you choose the dares too but they start out super simple)
— the dare is told to draco and he dares her something back
— so they end up sending them back and forth without knowing each other until the dares get more ridiculous
— they figure out who the other is when one is dared to do something in the great hall so obviously the other sees and they're kinda bothered when they realize who they've been talking to
— haley's a muggle-born gryffindor and draco's well you know what he is so for a bit they try to ignore each other
— but they obviously started liking each other over time so they get over it and secretly start talking in person instead of through the portrait
— at some point though, bc draco is helping umbridge, he has the portrait listen in on stuff that's happening in the gryffindor common room behind haley's back
— everything eventually goes dark and south for them
— she joins dumbledore's army
— they're going to be on different sides of the upcoming war, so they argue about it at some point
— it causes them to go without speaking for a while because draco calls her a mudblood out of anger (happens in the great hall, no one really knows that they have any sort of relationship with each other - the gryffindor/slytherin rivalry - so he feels uncomfortable that she's confronting him publicly)
— everything in between and how the rest goes is up to you
