He's awful at presenting in class, trips over his own two feet when walking to the pencil sharpener, stutters when called upon . . . the list goes on—and Maxine Mayfield from Sunny California doesn't make his tendencies get any better once she barrels into Hawkins.
The fire-spitting girl could not be more opposite of Reese if it were possible. She holds every high score at the arcade while Reese doesn't even play, skateboards while he's too afraid of breaking a limb, and she isn't afraid to speak her mind while words hardly left Reese's mouth.
𝓐nd she's utterly brave. Max does everything Reese could never see himself doing—considering she took on her stepbrother Billy, fought off demodogs, illegally drove a car, and most importantly and worst of all . . . pursued her crush. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

—reese is literally so precious and sweet, treat him as right as you can
— he's easily nervous (ex: hides behind a locker door when she walks by, doesn't like eye contact, trying to make himself look busy when he's caught staring)
— he's considered a loser bc of his shyness and he likes theater
— you can choose how reese gets involved with the upside down business
— whether or not you let max end up with reese, lucas, or no one, she still gets involved with lucas first
— reese hands out candy for halloween and completely drops the bowl when he opens the door and sees her there
— i can lowkey just imagine him staring at her while all the other kids are just snatching up the candy bc they don't give a shit that he's having a crisis
— reese completely switches up out of no where when the demodogs are coming at them, and knocks tf outta one when it jumps at max bc baby boy is still protective even when he's soft
