day 7: something that makes me happy

A/N: don't really know if this fits the prompt but oh well. i think the poem has a message that deserves to be heard anyway. this one goes out to all my inspirations and believers, be they my friends, family, random people who've impacted me, people who don't even know me, or the people i find home in.

"i feel my heart beating

oh, you make me feel"

--------------------

to all those who loved me

beneath bones and cracking skin

to all those who accepted me

spread your wings, and took me in

to all those who saved me

when tide was high and my head hung low

to all those who affirmed me

saying "you will live. you will not go."

people tell me i have a way with words

but there's something about 'thank you's

that i can't seem to express

ties my tongue in knots or cuts it loose

but to all those who've made me live

and be a little more than a shadow of life

let these verses be a dedication

to tell you i'll remember you through this world and the afterlife

you've made me feel worth it

that i deserved a place to stay

you've made me feel care and love and human warmth

in such an effortlessly selfless way

i live for the warm smiles you shine at me

the hugs, the comforting words

whether i know you face-to-face or not,

you've made me fly up there with the birds

you've made me feel valued

in a way that no one's done before

i couldn't have made it without you

i would have crumpled; you wouldn't have seen me soar

i'm sorry if i lost you

to time or to dying youth

but know you've touched me - you've made a difference in a life

and that's holier than the truth

thank you for making me whole

for the red you painted on my black and beating heart

loving someone with all of your being is difficult

it's painful sometimes but it's an art

to make it look so easy

the way you did for me

thank you for making me happy

and for setting my fire free
