Link stopped suddenly, leaning against the wall with sudden weakness as the golden triforce on his hand started to glow brightly.

They had been wandering around for hours, trying to find any sign that could lead them to Zelda in this dense blackness. Link was starting to drain from it though. It wasn't good for a light-dweller to be in this place too long. Midna was doing perfectly fine, but eventually it would start to get to her as well. He took a deep breath and started off again, determined. Midna floated along beside him.

He looked down at his hand worriedly. It meant that Zelda was in trouble. Of course, that didn't surprise him. She had been in this place for a while, they were bound to start torturing her about now. It still infuriated him, though. He was supposed to be protecting her, but he let this happen,

"We've already been down this way," Midna said, a bit quieter than usual. He groaned, turning a corner and heading a different direction. Nothing was around, which surprised them both. Most of Dayfos' forces must be fighting the soldiers back in Hyrule, another thing he was supposed to be protecting. He sighed.

Then, he heard a loud thump, a sliding sound, and a booming voice from a good distance away. He stopped in his tracks and turned towards the direction it came from,

"Well, that's pretty much all we've gotten to go by, so I'm taking it," He said, walking towards it immediately. Midna rushed up beside him,

"Woah, woah, woah. You can't just barge in there in the middle of all the chaos. If you want even a slight chance of saving her, then you need to do it smartly. Make a plan,"She said, crossing her arms in front of him. He groaned,

"You think we have all the time in the world to make plans? Every minute we spend, that's more she endures," He insisted,

"You won't have any time at all if you just go in there, and Zelda won't have herself a husband. You're spending time arguing with me about this, when you could be making a plan! Hurry up!" She dived into his shadow. His put his hand on his forehead, frustrated.

He heard another boom and loud thumps started towards them,

"Whoever that was, they're coming back! Move, idiot!" Midna hissed from his shadow. He ran over to the side, climbing up the side of the jagged arch that went over the dark corridor, loosing his foothold once and scraping his arm open. He got up there rather quickly though, and held his breath as a huge, disgusting beast thumped by. Link hoped he wouldn't notice his blood dripping onto the cold floor below.

He did.

He stopped and turned, his nostrils flaring as the rusty scent of Link's blood hit him. He flattened himself more against the top of the arch, starting to run out of air.

The loud thumps of his footsteps came closer, over to the small puddle of crimson on the floor. He bent down beside it, sticking his finger in it. He then stuck his finger in his mouth. Link gagged silently,

"Well, that human is surprisingly pleasant to taste. I am eager to find this intruder," The monster boomed, standing. He looked around before slowly booming away. Link let out his breath, sliding back down to the ground. Midna then came from his shadow,

"Wow, that was...interesting,"She said simply. He rolled his eyes before rushing past her in the direction the beast came from. She hurried up beside him,

"Link, it-"

"If you are going to try to slow me down again, save it. I am going in, and neither you or anybody else is going to stop me," He said, walking on and turning what he assumed was a corner.

"Why, hello! What a surprise to see you here, friend!" Dark Link said, grinning.

Link jumped back, shocked.

Dark Link came towards him, crossing his arms. He almost blended in with the corridor around him, for they were both dark and radiating evil,

"So, what cause is there for this amazing surprise?" He asked sarcastically. Link pulled out the Master Sword, gritting his teeth,

"I think we both know. Now, get the hell out of my way, and we won't have a problem," He said darkly. Dark Link chuckled,

"Feisty! About time you found that part of yourself. Now, tell me, why do you try SO hard to resist it? I know you feel it. Doesn't it feel better to just...let go?" He asked, stepping towards him. Link rolled his eyes,

"You have no idea what you're talking about. I don't feel anything, because I am nothing like you," He snapped,

"As if! You only wish that were the truth. You feel it more now, that you're here in His palace. You feel that connection with me, and I must say, I feel it too. That bit of light coursing through my veins. You have the darkness, Link. Embrace it already," He said, walking around him. Midna was strangely quiet,

"I don't have it," Link insisted,

"Oh, come on! I know that pathetic girl is the one who keeps you sane. But, she isn't here anymore, is she? She will die because you can't concentrate on being the hero you're supposed to be with all this hate going through you. She is disappointed in you, Link. She thought you were better than you are. I know these things. You are tired of fighting this battle. Go on, fight it Link! You KNOW that isn't what you want!" Dark Link said louder, coming even closer,

"SHUT UP!!" Link yelled, shoving him. Hard.

Dark Link flew back, crashing into the wall. Brick and mortar and dust rained down on him. Link growled and walked towards him. He grabbed the collar of his black tunic and lifted him up, baring his teeth,

"Now...that's what I...wanted to see," Dark Link struggled to say, grinning down at him. He snapped his fingers and the air beside Link became like a mirror. He glanced over at it.

Bright, burning red eyes shone back at him.
