"Are you sure you're ok?" He asked for the hundredth time, helping her up. She chuckled and nodded again,
"Absolutely. I'm tired of laying in this bed all day." Zelda said, standing up. She felt a bit weak, but nothing intolerable. He walked with her, supporting some of her weight until the warm rays of the afternoon sun hit her face. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She had been locked in that room too long. Link had taken great care of her in the past week or two, but she was still grateful to be out. Link chuckled, seeing her expression,
"Yeah, I guess it's not the most pleasurable place to be sitting in for that long," he said apologetically. She waved him off,
"It was perfectly fine. I am glad to be out again, though. Speaking of which..." She said, hesitating, "Take a walk with me," she finally said. Link nodded, taking her hand. Together, they left the town.
They walked slowly as Zelda took in the sights. The wildflowers were starting to bloom again, and the remains of battle had been long removed.
She noticed the emotions playing through Link's face as they passed by Epona's grave, but she didn't comment.
Finally, they sat down in the soft grass, and Link started messing with Horse grass,
"You never have told me what happened," he finally murmured. Zelda nodded,
"I know. I will, eventually. It's, just...not far enough in the past yet," she said, looking over at him,
"You do realize whatever stupid things I did...I did without knowledge...right?" He asked, looking up at her. She nodded after a moment. He sighed, reaching for her face. She tensed involuntarily. He looked down,
"That's what I thought. He did something to make you wary of me. I'll fix it, I swear it. It'll take a bit of time, but I'll make you trust me again," he said, determined,
"I do trust you," she whispered. He looked out ahead for a moment before answering,
"How do you do it?"
"Do what?" She asked, confused,
"Everything you do. I'm known as the hero. But, really, you're much more of one than I have ever been,"
"Link, that's not tr-"
"Isn't it? The things you've dealt with would do it already. The way you handle things is like nobody else. It's more than that, though. If I didn't have you, I wouldn't be able to make it," he said, taking her hand and kissing it. She smiled smally,
"Link, there's something I need to tell you. I've wanted to for a long time, but the chance kept being taken from me. I should've told you when I first returned, but I wanted to check to make sure it was still...true first," he nodded, listening. She took a deep breath,
"I'm...I'm pregnant," she said. His eyes grew wide,
"Wha...?" He looked at her stomach before back into her eyes,
"Yeah...I know you think now isn't a good time, and I'm sorry, but I think we can make it work. I mean, I'm not that far along, maybe things will be better by then to where you change your mind about it. I can-"
She was suddenly off the ground and in his arms,
"Oh my goddesses, Zel! That's amazing! I'm...I'm going to be a dad! Wow..." He said excitedly, his face lit up. She laughed, immensely relieved. Then, his lips were on hers. The kiss was full of passion and excitement.
Again, he pulled away all too soon. He set her down before bending down to kiss her stomach,
"I love you more than anything, my Zelda," he said, standing up and taking both of her hands, touching her forehead with his. She smiled widely,
"I love you too, my sweet Link," she responded, kissing him again.
