ON WATTPAD: Writers Portal Update

I was trying to figure out how best to handle doing updated chapters for the ON WATTPAD portion of my guide whenever Wattpad updates something on the site. I wasn't sure if it would be best to overwrite previous chapters or start fresh, I decided to start fresh while keeping the original posting information in tact. Thus every time Wattpad makes a change, I'll do an updated chapter that covers that change. They will be placed at the end of all the other ON WATTPAD chapters. Unless it's a super minor change that doesn't really require a chapter about it.

Wattpad recently updated the writers portal of their site. To refresh your memory, the writers portal can be found under the community drop down of the orange bar.

This will still bring you to a page that's split in two, leading you to resources and Wattpad programs. The right hand side is the same as what I covered in the "Featured, Premium, Stars, Oh My" chapter, so I won't rehash that. But what's changed is the left hand side called Writers Resources.

There is now so much more depth to the Writer Resources then what was previously there! Before there really wasn't much to it. Just an endless scroll of information. Now clicking on it brings you to a page that let's you access a lot of different resources of knowledge to make your life on Wattpad, and in writing, easier to understand.

As you can see, there are three sub-links under this page. Get Inspired, Sharpen Your Skills, & Build Your Audience. Let's go in order, shall we?

In get inspired you're going to find a plethora of links to various guide books written by members of this website, including yours truly! To say I was excited and proud to see my humble guide book linked from this area would be an understatement! Each guide will cover various different aspects of both life on Wattpad and Writing, no two guides are going to be the same! So if you're finding this guide isn't giving you what you need, then you can come to any of these other guides to hopefully satisfy your need for knowledge.

Some links will also take you to YouTube videos recorded by users. It's a smorgasbord of learning the basics of Wattpad.

At the top of that page you can then navigate to the next tab which would be Sharpen Your Skill.

Again you're going to find a ton of links to both guides written by users and YouTube videos. These links are to guides that are strictly about the art of writing. You'll find guides that go in depth into POV's, show vs. tell, all of that goodness! No two guides are the same so explore your options and find one that fits your needs.

Finally there's the Build your Audience.

Again you'll find links to guides and YouTube videos all geared toward how to get reads on Wattpad. This is probably the number one question users ask, but it's also the hardest to answer. What works for one person won't work for another and you can do everything right and STILL not get reads. So check out the guides and see which one might help you figure out how to trap the elusive reader.

Basically Wattpad has gathered a bunch of different guides of varying styles and depth to put them all under one nice and tidy portal. This way you don't have to spend countless time searching for the guides, you get several in one place. Yes, you can still search for them if you find that you still can't find a guide the answers your question, but Wattpad has cut down a lot of that work with this overhaul to the Writers Portal.
