How Green Was My Valley   by Richard Llewellyn

A/N

Out of the thousands of books I have read, I can easily say this is the most beautifully written story I've ever read. It reads like music. It has everything a great book should - an incredible story, characters which engage and enthrall and a style of writing I can only call exquisite. It's truly a masterpiece.

It received many awards when first published - I believe in the 1940s - though I did not discover it until the 90s.

Written by Richard Llewellyn, it's about a family in a Welsh mining town at the turn of the last century. The John Ford film is also a cinematic masterpiece but you owe it to yourself to read the book - a few times. I have.
