Chipping could not have been meeker,
this shy and gentle creature.
Though the boys all teased,
he soon came to please
and became, Brookfield's greatest teacher.
Author's Note
A short, incredibly detailed and moving character-story. Mr. Chipping, shy and unheralded, comes to Brookfield Grammar School, a British boys school at end of the 19th century. And over the course of 43 years goes from unappreciated teacher to a beloved institution himself. You will love it.
If you decide to see the film first, I recommend the original 1939 version with Robert Donat and Greer Garson.
