“Nice place you got here, hot stuff,” Clint Barton looked around the house, he had arrived 5 hours after Andy and Cap had left. The VTOL jet was parked out front, and all of them were taking turns lugging out boxes and bags of Val’s things into the jet, “So where are you going to put all these stuff?”

“Storage,” Val answered curtly as she lifted a box that held her swords and katanas.

“You want me to help you drop them off?” Clint asked as he lifted two suitcases and walked out the door with Val.

“Why, Barton, are you flirting with me?” Val smiled at him as Diana ran around the house again, “Diana!” she called to her passing dog, “You’ll wear yourself out!” then she shook her head, knowing full well she wouldn’t be able to stop the dog until they left. This had been her home for 5 years, it was perfect, but now she couldn’t keep it. What on earth was she going to do with Diana? She should have sent her off with Knight, but Val knew it wouldn’t work; she and Diana had never been separated for more than a month. It just never happened. So what was she going to do when she died?

“Clint!” Nat called as they neared the plane, “Stop flirting with Val, you’ll make someone jealous.” She said, a small smile on her face.

“Aw, sweet cheeks, you don’t have to be, you know that,” Barton teased back.

“Oh, honey, I wasn’t talking about me,” Nat’s grin got wider and she motioned to where James was standing with his arms crossed, a scowl on his face as he watched Val and Clint.

“Whoops,” Clint whispered as he loaded the suitcases into the plane and Val laughed at the slight panic that flashed through his features.

“That’s the last of it, guys,” Val said, checking the contents of the plane.

“Alright,” Clint said, “All aboard!”

Val looked back at her home and took a deep breath, savoring the last few seconds she had with it. “Diana, come!” she called out, and like a silver bullet, Diana jumped into the plane.

“You do know you still can see it again, right?” Natasha asked as she stood beside Val in the cargo bay as the plane started.

Val just smiled at her as James walked past them, a slight frown still on his face, purposely ignoring them both.

When he got out of earshot, Val whispered, “I don’t think so, Tasha,” she looked at it one last time as the cargo doors shut, and Diana sidled up closer to her, “We may never see it again, huh, girl?” Val bent over and scratched the dog behind her ears.

“Camilla,” Natasha said softly, “I promised Cristoff I’d make sure you were happy.”

Val laughed, “I was, Natasha, I was happy with the chase, and the job, and even the killing, for a while. But ever since he died, all I can think of is my promise to him, and you know I won’t be able to be ‘happy’ if I don’t do it.” She shrugged.

“I know,” Nat admitted sadly as they felt the plane take off.
