We were at the ice cream place and sat on the table.
I examined the room.It looked really fancy for just a ice cream shop.
I looked over at Diane who was looking at the menu full of different ice cream choices.
"This place is sure is fancy"I commented
"Yeah that's why I wanna come here"She smiled
She shared the menu with me and I had a quick glance at it
"I guess I will get the chocolate sundae"I said while Diane was still looking.
She groaned.
"I don't know what to choose"She complained and I chuckled a bit.
"I guess that strawberry swirl will do"She points to a picture of a strawberry ice cream swirled in a cup with sprinkles and tiny pieces of strawberries on it.
"Ok"I said and put my hand up in the air to bring a waiter
A man with black vest and tie holding a pen and notepad in his hand coming towards our table.
"May I take your order?"He gave a genuine smile to Diane which made me a bit of jealous.
She obviously smiled back and gave her order to the man.
"And you,my sir?"He turned around and looked at me
"A different waiter"I muttered inaudible while resting my head on my hand
"What was that?"The man asked
"Oh sorry a chocolate sundae"He wrote on his notepad and walked away.
We talked until our ice cream came and began eating it.
Not gonna lie,but it looks pretty delicious.
I took my tiny spoon and took a bite.
"Not bad"I complimented
Diane took a bite out of hers and squealed excitingly.
"So good!!"I smiled at her childish gesture
We both had a conversation and ate our ice creams at the same time.
Once we were finished our ice creams the man gave us a small tray so we can pay for our order.
Diane was about to pull out her wallet but I didn't hesitate to call her name.
"Diane,don't worry I'll pay for it"I smiled and she gave me a worried look
"You sure,I can at least pay half for mine it's kinda expensive here"She mentioned but I shook my head
"Nah,it's ok.I'll pay for all"I insisted and she put her wallet back into her bag
"Thank you"She smiled and I returned it with a tint of blush.
I took credit card out and swiped it on the attached machine.
We left and started walking down the sidewalk.
"I didn't know you had a credit card King.Usually,my parents told me I would get it after I graduate high school.Right now,I just have cash from my sister"She told me an giggled
"Well,my Mom and Dad were both very wealthy.I don't wanna brag but they barely see me and my little sister all the time cause of work.I hate them for not always being there"I said pretty annoyed
"It was like that until....."I stopped walking
Diane stopped and stared at me
"The accident when they were coming home and ended up...dead"I said with a cold tone
"I'm sorry to hear that"She said while putting her hand on my shoulder
I brought my face up and gave her a reassuring smile.
"I didn't know what having a parent was like anyways"I chuckled
"They always been away from me and Elaine ever since we were little and probably old enough to walk.My uncle has been taking care of us but I barely see him"I explained
"Sorry if this is ouy of topic"I apologized and faced her
She shook her head
"No it's ok.I have parents who are always on business trips."She told me and my eyes widened
"If your parents are always away,who takes care of you?"I asked
"My older sister"She answered
We kept talking and walking
All of a sudden,I saw a girl on the other side,playing with a ball by herself.I stopped and looked over at the other side.It reminded me of how I left Diane alone when we were younger causing me to frown.I tightened my fists.If I was there,then she would still remember for who I was back then.
I stared until Diane tapped my shoulder.
"King?"She called
I shook my head and turned to face her.
"Oh sorry.I was just thinking"I scratched the back of my head
"What were you thinking about?"She asked
I pointed to the little girl
"She just reminds me of something"I smiled
She squinted her eyes.
"Oh"She stared at her a little bit
"Remind you of what?"She asked as she faced me
"Ughh well"I tried to think of some excuse to say
"She reminds of someone when I was young,nothing too important"I answered as I began walking and she followed
"Anyway,where do you wanna go?"She asked
"I dunno"I said
Out of the corner of my eye,I can see the little girl crossing the street to get her ball.I saw a driver from the distance heading her way.
I ran across the streets while the driver was still coming.
"King,what are you doing?!!?"Diane yelled
To me it was all in slow motion.
I was able to reach the girl and covered my body to protect her.
I felt an enormous amount of pain when the vehicle collided with my body.It hit the side of my torso and had sent me flying.
I fell to the ground with the girl safe and no minor injuries.My whole body felt so numb to me.I laid on my stomach while I heard people screaming and calling for help.I felt footsteps approaching me.My vision got so blurry.
"King!King!"It was Diane
I heard her sniff
"Don't worry I'm calling for help right now"She reassured me while crying
That's when I blacked out..........
