"Mike- how do we handle this?" I mumbled, referring to how to tell Vanessa.

He exhaled.

"With her situation- I think her first reaction is going to be to get out of the room- we can't let her do that."

"This is something that we have to address and it's very important that we get all of the emotions out, she can't bundle this shit up or we'll have months of mental breakdowns."

"We'll probably have to force her into hugs, not holding her tight but to where she can calm down enough to not go into an anxiety attack"

"We have to be real and straight up- no sugar coating, no false hope- we tell her, we tell her what we plan to do for the future and we comfort her, that's all she's going to need."

"And we keep a damn close eye on her the best few weeks."

Thirty minutes later we heard the door open- making us all sit straighter in unison.

Several minutes later she shuffled into the living room- her baby hairs sticking out of her braids, a tired smile on her face, looking more than adorable.

Calum had a relaxer- that was the main thing I reminded myself.

If this went downhill- he could calm her in a split second, that's all I needed to know.

"Hi beautiful" I spoke out.

"Hi" She exhaled tiredly, shuffling to me.

I pulled her into my lap- feeling her instantly relax- which almost made me proud.

"I need to talk to you, baby" I spoke, seeing her eyes glance to me.

"What's wrong?" She questioned, sitting up- looking completely at me.

I lightly brushed her baby hairs out of her face,
looking to tiredly adorable face.

"This morning- I found a note from your mom on her side of the bed" I cleared my throat.

"Princess- she left, she doesn't want to be here, she wants me to take custody of you and I'm so fucking sorry baby"

Her eyes scanned mine.

"She left?" She questioned.

"No one knows where she is" I elaborated, seeing her facial expression move to something I've never seen.

She stood in a instant- moving to walk away, but I grabbed her gently, careful not to trigger her.

"Let me go, please"

She was on the verge of tears.

"Baby, sit please-" "please don't make me" she begged.

Michael stepped in for help- immediately just gently grabbing her, pushing her head into his chest, and that made her almost crumble in his arms.

They sank to the floor- nothing but the sounds of sobs coming from her.

Her fucking mother left her.

We all joined the hug, no one speaking- nothing needed to be said, we were all feeling the same.

Sad and shitty.

"You're okay." Michael mumbled as her crying decreased.

"You're going to be so happy before you know it"

"We're going to love you, to take care of you- give you anything you've ever wanted" He spoke into her.

"You're going to have a family that actually gives a shit about you, and that's a promise."
