chapter 16

June 4th 1992

Lucy's POV:

Daddy is due to go back on tour again tomorrow, I'm gonna miss him but it isn't gonna be long and it will be over with soon and he also promised once tour is completed for our birthdays we can go to Disneyland. we arrive at uncle Tito's who's running family day where everyone meets up at a house for a BBQ and general catch up.

"what's that?" I ask Tito and Janet whilst they're by the outdoor cooker

"those are burgers"

"what type?"

"there's some of Lamb, some of Chicken and some of Beef" Janet replies

"Beef?" I question starting to feel sick

"yeah, you like beef?" Tito asks

"um no" I smile and walks off and as soon as I turn the corner I run off inside and goes straight to the bathroom

Michael's POV:

I was on my way over to give Lucy her drink but I see her walk off and leg it as soon as she turns the corner

"where's Lucy going?" I ask

"I don't know"

"is that beef?"

"yeah, she said she didn't like beef and left" Tito says

"ok" I say and runs off inside,  I go to the nearest bathroom and fimd Lucy vomiting so i kneel down next to her and hold her hair and rub her back.

"thank you for holding my hair"  she says once she's finished

"it's ok, come on lets get you some water" I smile and pick her up then carey her to the kitchen, I place her on the counter and grab a glass then fill it with water and five it to her.

"hey, you can put her in one of the rooms to lie down if you like" Dee Dee smiles walking into the room

"nah it's ok, I'll have her on my lap" I smile

"ok"

"just in case of nightmares" I mouth then we go outside,  I sit next to La Toya and Lucy is fast asleep so I lay her so that her legs are on La Toya's lap

"is she alright?" Janet asks coming over and sitting the other side of La Toya

"yeah just a little sick"

"was it something we did or said?" Tito asks

"no, it was the beef"

"is she allergic or something?" Rebbie asks

"no......when she was 4 before she got taken into care her parents gave her beef to eat, she was clever enough to not eat it because it was raw. after a few days she was hungry and had no other option than to eat it, she ended up in hospital and then she went to the care home"

"aww bless her, that's terrible" Jackie says

"poor girl, I'm glad she's with you now Michael" mother says

"I'm glad she's with me too" I smile looking down at her snuggled up against my chest peacefully sleeping "just the smell or knowledge is enough to make her sick,  it wasn't your fault you didn't know"

"how can parents do that, it's disgusting" Jermaine says

"should be locked up with the key thrown away" Joseph says and we all agree, that made me happy cause his voice was different and you could tell that he generally meant it and cares about Lucy even through she isn't blood related, you wouldn't think it cause she is so much like is all but he generally meant it which makes me so happy.

Lucy's POV:

I wake up and I'm so comfortable I literally don't wanna move

"hey sleepy head"  I look up and see daddy looking down at me smiling

"hi daddy" I smile sitting up and aunt Janet moves over so I can sit in between them

"you hungry?" he asks

"a little"

"what do you want to eat?"

"I don't know"

"how about I go and get a plate with a mixture?" Janet smiles

"ok"

"Janet" daddy says as she walks off

"yeah?"

"can you add some BBQ chicken on the side for me please?"

"alright" she smiles and carry on walking off

"what time do you leave tomorrow?"

"about 6:30am"

"but I'll be asleep"

"I know sweetie, I'll say bye to you through"

"ok"

"it won't be long, the time will go quickly then we can go to Disneyland" he smiles

"I can't wait, I'll need new dresses through" I smile

"Janet is taking you clothes shopping a few days before I come home"

"ok" I smile then Janet comes back and places the plate on my lap

"this is the best" daddy says whilst eating the chicken

"it's rude to talk whilst eating" I say then puts a popcorn chicken in my mouth

"yeah Michael, you're meant to be setting a good example" Janet laughs

"sorry" he smiles

7pm

we got home about an hour ago and I've been playing the piano, this random made up tune I really like and have wrote down the notes properly so it isn't messy where I rubbed things out and rewrote them.

"Lucy, you gotta get ready for bed" Daddy calls from upstairs

"ok" I call back and makes my way upstairs, I go to my room and puts my monkey pj's on then I go to daddy's room.

"ok I'm ready, also where's Bubbles? I haven't seen him for a while"

"he's at the veterinary having his yearly check up, you'll see him in a few days when he comes home"

"why does it take a few days? mine only takes around 40 minutes"

"cause he's an animal and he's getting older so he needs extra check ups and to make sure he's safe to live here"

"oh, ok then" I smile and he's gets up from the chair and we walk to my room

"want to pick a story?" he asks and I nod yes then goes to the bookshelf, we've read loads already and I don't have a clue what to pick. in the end I go with Alice in Wonderland and I get into bed and dad starts to read.

8:45pm

"night Sweetie" daddy smiles standing up and then he leans down and kisses my forehead

"night daddy, I love"

"I love you most" he says and leaves closing the door half way and I smile then rolls over onto my side and closes my eyes.
