Adam clutched my hand and stopped my from falling.

"Adam, let go!" I pleaded. "They'll shoot you."

One of the guards pushed him off but luckily, he grabbed on a ledge.

"Adam," I said. "Just let go of me. Then avenge me."

Adam looked around. He spotted the rope of the bridge. He bit the rope handle off and threw it across the gap.

"Hold tight, Tara," he said. "Grab my ankle."

I did so and he struggled to cross.

When we got to the other side, Adam panted like a dog.

"Thanks," I said. "You okay?"

"Yeah," he answered. "You?"

I nodded in response. "About the ki-"

He put a hand over my mouth. "Don't speak of it to anyone!"

I nodded and he released me. "Did you mean it?"

"Shush!!!"

"But, did you?" I asked.

He looked around. "Don't tell my parents."

I nodded again.

He gulped. "Yes. I did."

I was about to say something but he interrupted.

"Shut it and don't tell anyone."

I nodded again again.

"Where do we go now, Smith?"

"There!" I pointed.
