Chapter 3

Andrew's POV

After the party many of the Witches left. They had places to be after all.

The only ones who stayed were Emma and Vivian. They insisted on helping clean and organize the gifts. Since they were staying my mother offered them to sleep over. Vivian was uncomfortable with the idea and even Emma looked like she didn't want to, but in the end they both reluctantly agreed.

Zach and I were going around Pack land, checking to see if anything suspicious happened during the dinner. I doubt anything did but you can never go wrong with doing rounds. Instead of shifting like we normally would, we walked.

Everything seemed great up until a couple of miles out. I noticed a strange smell; something between fire and floral. Whatever it was Zach and I decided to check it out. It was a couple of mile or so outside of our territory. There were no other packs between these lands but that didn't mean people were allowed to fight in the woods. Especially near ours.

When we got closer we saw our pack members huddled around purple flames. It wasn't damaging any trees or causing a big fire, not even smoke was around the area. It was simply purple flames that were already receding.

A couple of curious members tried touching the flames; it only ended up burning them badly. The flames burn people but it didn't burn the trees, or the bugs, or the grass.

"What do you think?" Zach asked.

"I don't know." I mumbled, "Magic?"

Zach shrugged, "Probably. But whose? Every Witch we saw went back to.... wherever they came from." He replied.

I sighed, rubbing my forehead. "I don't know. Just clean this up. I'll talk to Nora about it. Maybe Emma or Vivian know too."

It was late. And I was tired. I didn't need these things bothering me.

Zach nodded and started shouting orders to everyone.

One of the members -Mark- came up to me, bowing his head before speaking. "Alpha, we caught a scent. It's really faint but its there."

"Whose?" I asked him.

"Hunters." He replied with disgust.

I heard a couple of low growls from the other members along with my own. How dare they come so close to our land

"We caught another scent to but it's too far gone for us to track it or tell whose it is." He continued.

I nodded, "Great job Mark. Thanks." I told him.

Mark nodded and walked away, continuing to help get rid of the flames.

Why the hell were Hunters so close to our land. They've never come this close, our treaty between them were if one Hunter showed up unannounced then we kill on sight. I could already bet members of my Pack were on the hunt.

"Aww, look at the cute little kitty." Someone said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

Turning around, I saw the side of a small black cat curled up in a little ball near a tree. Slowly, I walked towards it. The cat had its eyes closed and its breathing was uneven. Getting closer I saw a small amount of blood coming out of a wound with a dagger inside of it.

Normally I would have completely ignore the animal. Not because I was cold hearted, but simply because its none of my business with other people's pets, but this one had my attention.

"Zach." I called for him. Automatically he came jogging to my side. I nodded towards the cat, "Take the cat in." I told him.

He looked at me confused and amused.
