Chapter 9- Past meet Present

Gab sent me a message that Tita Abby is recovering and it is enough for me. Una kong inayos ang organization sa Red Dragon. Those that are not in favor of the change I will implement, I gave them a chance to exit the group.

Kumalat ang balita kung paano ako nakaligtas sa sunog. Marami ang naniniwala sa premonition na binigay ng isang monk sa lolo ko noon. Inisa-isa sa akin ni Asahi ang mga nightclub na pag-aari ng Triad. Those that were registered sa government, pinanatili kong nakabukas. Those nightclubs that sell women as sex slaves, iyon ang pinasara ko. I lost half of my members doing this overhaul sa Triad. I gain enemies as well.

The money that my father left in my name has been put on hold because there is nobody that was present during the investigation of the policy. Now that I have access to that money, I used it to build legal clubs. Kapalit ng mga pinasara kong illegal clubs. Members of Triad who are willing to do work legally has given priority to work on these clubs.

I lost my count on how many weeks I am here in Japan. The work is challenging. Hindi ko alam kung paano namamanage ni daddy ang ganito karami na mga tao. Let alone Tito Ayano who has an empire of business in Japan. Paano nila nagagawa iyon?

"Kaede, there are reports that our women have been harassed by Haru's previous men." Asahi informed me during the meeting.
"They were taken to their illegal nightclubs. Those women that were resisting has been brutally injured."
Halos kasing edad ng daddy si Asahi. Naniniwala siya dati sa mga idea ni daddy. Siya din ang nagpahold ng mga account ni daddy para hindi ito magalaw ni Haru. Naniniwala siyang babalik ako kaya siya nagtagal sa Triad.

"We will make a move tomorrow. End these illegal clubs once and for all. Make sure that all men are prepared." Utos ko. I lost count of how many bloods I have in my hand. Doing the right thing is harder than I thought.

"And another thing. Your cousin on your mother's side, Takashi, is asking for a meeting with you."
"About what?" Tanong ko. Hindi maganda ang pakiramdam ko sa biglang pagsulpot ng mga kamag-anak ko sa side ni mommy. Itinakwil nila si mommy ng pakasalan niya si daddy dahil sa uri ng pamumuhay mayroon sila.
"He didn't say anything but I have a theory that it has something to do with the Fujihara family." Sagot nito. Nakunot ang noo ko.
"You do not know the story about how Ayano and your father met?" Tanong ni Asahi.
"All I know is they were friends." Sagot ko.
"Well, your father wanted Ayano to be dead the first time. He even hired an assassin to kill him." Asahi chuckled at the thought. I didn't know this story.
"Your mother was destined to be married to Ayano. An arranged marriage that was passed in generations. Your mother's grandfather made a promise with Ayano's grandfather that the next generation will marry, but both had a son. The arranged marriage was passed to the next generation, your mother and Ayano. They both decline and nobody wanted that arranged marriage. Your father wanted Ayano to be dead so your mother will be free, but the assassin that he hired kidnapped your mother. Abby and Ayano helped your father to save Hana. That's when they became friends."

"The arranged marriage is now on your generation. Ayano's children and you and your cousin. It will pass along to the next generation if no one will honour it now. Believe me, your mother wanted to bury that promise... but maybe, your mother's sibling wanted to take what they can not hold. Money, Kaede... The Fujihara has an empire of business and not all of your relatives are as good as your mother. Be prepared for what your cousin will say."

Iniwan ako ni Asahi sa meeting room na ginagamit namin. Halos sa office na ako ng Red Dragon Triad natutulog. Wala akong bahay dito sa Tokyo. Demolised na ang bahay nila Tito Ayano dito. Wala na ang dati naming bahay at hindi ko gustong tumira sa bahay ni Haru.

I picked up the phone and dialed Takashi Yamamoto's number.
"Hello."
"This is Kaede," I said.
Hindi nagsalita si Takashi.
"I want to have a meeting with you." Sabi nito after a while.
"Speak now on phone. I don't have time for you." Sagot ko.
"I know about the promised marriage, Kaede. I want to tell you that I will activate it. Step down. I am older than you."
Umakyat ang dugo sa ulo ko. Oo matanda siya sa akin ng isang taon. Pero hindi nito makukuha si Sakura.
"You don't know who you are talking to. Leave the Fujihara alone, Takashi. I can kill you with my hands if I must."
"You will not do it. I am recording this conversation and will give it to the police. You will be arrested once I found dead."
Son of a bitch...
"Honour the law, Kaede. Good day." Binaba nito ang telepono.

"Putang-ina..." Sigaw ko sa loob ng meeting room. Binato ko ang telepono na hawak ko. Basag-basag itong nalaglag sa sahig.
