<pre class="commentbubble reverse" style="width: 450px;">"I walked towards the justice building. Only a few people were there. I went through the process of getting signed in without even paying attention. Soon I was in a penned area where my age group stays. I looked around. More people where coming in. soon the reaping will start. If I had a choice I wouldn’t want to go in the games, but if I did, I will be prepared. My only wish is that my brother is not picked. I’ve been training him with bow and arrow but he’s not that good. He is very skilled with knives though, so if he is chosen, he might win. But I don’t want that to happen. I don’t want anyone close to get chosen. And especially not young children like Rue. I looked around again. A lot of people stood around with a well-known look on their faces. I had that look once. That was then and this is now. If I get chosen I’ll go in proudly, not scared. I hope that Jared is not picked though. He’s tough and strong, but his family needs him. And not to mention he entered so many times I lost count. The mayor walked on stage and sat down. Three other people including 2 victors sat with him. A woman with bright blue hair walked on stage. Clearly she was from the capital. She welcomes us and shows us a video. Next she goes to a bowl and picks out a paper. She walks over to the microphone and shouts out a name. It takes me a minute to realize that the name was mine. I don’t know why but I was excited. I walked on the stage. the lady with the blue hair walked over to the bowl on her right and shouted “next too boy!” she pulled a paper out and said, “Markus Everstien.” I don’t know why but I know that name. A muscular brown haired guy appeared. I looked closer. His hair had blonde highlights in it. His black eyes shouted revenge. Then I knew who he was. Rue’s best friend."</pre>

A woman with curly bright blue hair walks on stage. Clearly she was from the capital.

She welcomes us and shows us a video. Next she goes to a bowl and picks out a paper. She walks over to the microphone and shouts out a name. It takes me a minute to realize that the name was mine. I don’t know why but I was excited. I walked on the stage. The lady with the blue hair walked over to the bowl, and put her hand in, pulling a thin paper out. She looked at the paper and shouted “next to boy!” she unfolds a paper and says, “Markus Everstien.” I don’t know why but I know that name. A muscular brown haired guy appeared. I looked closer. His hair had blonde highlights in it. But his black eyes shouted revenge. Not towards me but at what seems the capital. Then I knew who he was. Rue’s best friend. How could I kill him? He probably plans to avenge Rue. Now I have a sick gut feeling. Unlike my dreams, I might die. Because if it comes to me and him, I wouldn’t be able to kill him. We shake hands and the blue haired woman ushers us into the justice building.

I sit in a room, lost in my thoughts. Maybe someone will kill him before me. The door opens and my mom and brother walk in. my mom hugs me tightly and my brother hugs us both. We finally separate so I can tell them something. “Mom, let Andrei hunt. He’s good at it and between you running the shop and him hunting, you’ll manage. If the Eckert’s are ever low in something you help them out. Andrei, I want you to promise me that you won’t put your name in. and practice with a bow and arrow, I know your good with knife’s but sometimes you need some more force. I love you both. I will try to win.” I say as Andrei puts on a face. “No, Yoli, you WILL win. No exception. You can fight and you’re better than me with hunting, you can swim, you can climb, you WILL survive. I know it.” He says.

Then my mother begins speaking. “Yoli, I love you so much and I know you can take care of yourself, so try to win, for your district, for your family, and for your life.” We hugged one last time and then a peacekeeper ushered them out. Before I could form a thought, Jared walks in and embraces me in a tight hug. “If I could, I would’ve volunteered for you. I don’t want to lose you. I lost a friend already; I don’t want to lose you. Especially since I… I” he said. “I love you too. I’ve always have.” I said finishing his sentence. He looks me in the eye and then kisses me. A peacekeeper comes in and I shout “I will win.” just as Jared was pulled out the room. And now I’m alone.</pre>
