I woke up this morning
Ordinary day
Had a quick breakfast
Then got on my way
I remember so well
Like yesterday
Sitting there in the classroom
In shock and dismay
The rising clouds
The sulfur rain
The frantic faces
Nationwide paid
Make it go away
It was not the time the hour or the place
Rewind, don't play
It's not suppose to happen that way
It's an ordinary day
I woke up that morning
Ordinary day
Hurried through breakfast
Then got on my way
I remember so well
It won't go away
Sat there in that classroom
as the teacher explained
The levy broke
In poured the waves
How could people and a city
Be gone in a day
Make it go away
It was not the time the hour or the place
Rewind, don't play
It's not suppose to happen that way
It's an ordinary day
Pouring through the history books
I wonder to this day
If those people back then thought this way
Perhaps woke up and did the same things
Found out later it's not an ordinary day
