Rose’s POV

It was such a feeling, to feel the magic climb up my limbs, wrapping its celestial, delicate threads around me. The bullet pierced into my heart, but I couldn’t scream as the more powerful spirit charm had actually anesthetized me.

I had only one face plastered in my field of vision. The gorgeous eyes, the adorable smile and his soothing voice seemed to float around in my muddled brain.

But then I found Dimitri’s hands holding mine and then everything went a blur and all my super vision and smell disappeared and I realized that I had turned.

But then I saw my ring finger where a tiny gleaming silver hoop sat. The material seemed to be light itself. As I ran my hands over it, I realized that it was a permanent charm.

Dimitri had one too and he was looking at it in wonder. I knew that the magic transforming me had been different. There was a love and affection in it which drew Dimitri and formed an unbreakable bond.

We were engaged and betrothed by magic.

I broke down crying inconsolably as Dimitri desperately dried away my tears, kissed my cheeks, my lips, my eyes, my forehead and anywhere to stop me from crying. But my tears came unbounded.

Finally after a lot of consoling, and having the burden lifted from me, we stood up only to be pulled into a hug by Lissa. Christian caught Dimitri’s hands, apologizing repeatedly.

Lissa clung onto me as if her life was dependent on it.

Finally when we all drew back with the future Belikov family clearing their throats, and a baby’s gurgling laughter.

I rushed up and snatched Alexandra who was too dazed to react. I showered my future baby with kisses. She reached out and pulled my hairs.

“Rose, “I think we’ll teleport you all to the court. There is trouble brewing on there,” my counterpart was suddenly very serious.

“Trouble?” we four asked in unison.

“The throne has been usurped by one of the Ivashkovs, who were waiting for the opportunity. You need to restore Lissa to the throne, but you all have probably been banned from castle grounds, so you need to get to courtroom somehow and present Liss before the council gives the final verdict on the heir to the throne. You have very little time left,” the future Rose waved her hand in the air and a virtual 3 D hologram appeared.

There were some kind of proceedings going on at court.

The council sat with stone faces while Nathan Ivashkov, another Royal moroi, was giving a tall speech about rights and duties of a ruler.

“Nate, the monster,” Dimitri muttered.

“Tell me how you dealt with this,” I enquired from my future.

“I never had to face this,” she said calmly, “We had gone back beforehand, kept Adrian in charge and came back. I had told you that your future is going in a different way, maybe for the better, or for the worse.”

I stood horrified and confused.

The situation was fast getting out of control and it was all becoming too much to bear in a day.

“So, what do we do?” I enquired.

“We go there,” she commented, pressing a button on her remote, which opened up a dark, bottomless hole out of the blue, “It’s a time portal. Hold each other’s hand and jump.”

I reached out to grab Dimitri, who promptly took Christian's hand. He wrapped Lissa in his chest. Rose from the future, took my hand and her Dimitri joined us too.

And then we jumped into the dark nothingness.
